The devs idea for pikeman is for them to be the tanks of SWG, therefor pikeman are the tanks.

When the devs include fatigue and encumbrance modifiers that affect our "moving defense" (i.e. dodge) then you can start asking for new armors. There is no reason to have class specific armors except for looks unless you're talking about replacing our ability to wear heavy composite with "light" armor that compliments our dodge or mitigation defenses.
It truely sounds nice and all but I'd rather stick with my composite....especially when I'm the pointman in the corvette. They cant hit me that often but when they do I wish I had some of the TK toughness skill. Thank goodness for 90% energy composite.

In my opinion there are two types of fighters in a hunt, the tanks who get up close and personal and the ranged fighters. I'm not about to say which one of us is more tank-like. I can see the point some have with Pikeman, but all of us brawlers are tanks in my humble opinion. At least until they have pikeman throwing spears in the future or something ridiculous which wont happen.

all brawler proffetions are tanks in thier own special way, if you want to get technical then tka are the true tanks since tka are meant to withstand hits(i.e. a tank), fencers are meant to dodge hits, and pikemen are meant to counter hits. and then theres pistoleers that are good at dodging to. Any combo of these would be better than any single proff at tanking.
As for special armor i think they need to fix the old armor first. like adding dot resistances, makeing anything other than comp/ubese usefull. RIS should be the only armor with the massive 80-90% resists.
But if they did start introduceingproff specific armors, they would probably compliment that proff's skills and fighting styles. (i.e. more dodge for fencers, more def for tka, more counterattack for pikemen) maby they could add negative speed on the encumbersome comp and other high resistance armors then lower resistance armors for the evasive fencer wouldn't have a speed reduction. Basically what it should be (what the devs were prob initially thinking but cut a big corner) if your wearing heavy armor(for tka's)totake alot of damage your going to be slower, higher ham costs for specials slower regeneration and be easier to hit, but you won't take as much dmg per hit. if your wearing light armor tododge alot of damage (for fencer's)you will be faster have lower ham costs for specials faster regeneration and be harder to hit, but you will take more damage when they do land a hit every so often. and for pikemen something inbetween that isn't so heavy they take alot of dmg but isn't light enough to plain dodge a hit, just enough to counterattack.

i think some melee professions should get armor only wearable by them look at BH,Commando,Ranger only they can wear mando armor if there lucky enough to get any

when you say "we" please dont include the vast majority of us. we have lives. "we" are not unemplyed or uneducated and dont ditch school to play games.
things such as RIS are definetly not for the "we". the things for the "we" are more inline of ubese and composite and even keeping up with all different situational composite is hard.
