Thread: Is it just me or are we useless in PVE?

Alone fencers have a hard time dealing out damage against many armored npc's which is the downside. In groups we make excellent pointman since our ability to dodge and CoB make us very tough to hit therefore making us an ideal agro-holder. Any hits we do take can be healed up by your resident doc/CM/novice medic. Then you let everyone else slap some serious damage on the npc. Thank goodness friendly fire is turned OFF in this game.
We cant really deal out damage like others but we can sure avoid it.

In high end PvE the NPC's do NOT miss and no secondary defenses work. This means we are no better at tanking/evading damage than a Swordsman. This is of course a problem as we a high defense profession and if what we are best at is made redundant then at this level in PvE we are often just taking up space in a group.
I already posted a thread about this, as have others, the majority of people agree, including FURY_Chaser. Those that didn't agree, in my thread, eitherunderstand what I was talking about and seemed to think I should have been using a Stun Baton to fight Night Sistersor claimed to be able to defend fine against such High End mobs...I'm still awaiting the Screen Shots proving this
The problem isn't around the Fencer profession itself but the whole combat balance of the game and how out of balance Doc Buffs, Foods and Armour have made it. Hopefully the CB will bring it all back into balance and Mobs/NPC's with it.

I agree with what your saying. Right now a Fencer has serious problems in 2 places. The Vette and the DWB, that's it. Anywhere else a Fencer is fine. They may kill slower, but their defenses matter. So while you may be right about the hardest places, I 100% disagree that fencer is USELESS in PVE. Geno caves are how a Fancer should be.

my friend used his 300+ dmg stun baton in the geno caves the other day, & was OD'ing lots of people

i hope he has a lot of money so he can buy a new one lol.
i do think the decay rate with use is a bit insane.
i spent 4-600k on a decent pair of batton and gaffi, and i never use them unless i need to get out of trouble or my rare PvP excursions.
i use a pair of non-acklay cube made ones for everyday.
as commando i never needed more than one flamer.

I was doing great in the DWB. maybe through a bit of luck but with CoB on I managed to tank an SBD while the rest of my group took it out. If you want to do solo combat go for swordsman.
Yesterday in the Corvette i did get taken out rather quickly though. Somehow an SBD managed to land 5 shots in a row on me, hitting for about 600-700 damage a time. as you can guess I fell but my TKM friend lasted alot less time.
If you like high ended solo combat then fencer isn't the one for you. We can't solo krayts or NS elder, its probably been done but I've never heard of it. what i prefer is group high end combat. It's much more fun and there is where the master fencer really shines, dodging all the hits while everyone else takes it out.

Im Master fencer and I soloed one of the anniversary spawn Gorax's. But I am also a TKM/MS which kinda helps. I was wearing full comp and fully buffed. I think somone had tryed it before me because about 15% of its hp bar was already gone. The dizzy KD on that thing is nasty but it only landed twice thanks to my state def. After about50 minutes of wailing on him I took him down. BTW I was using a nice acklay gaffi which lost 450 durability in this fight. Had to destroy it 8(

I dont see waht your alking about.. lol we shure as hell can tank high end mobs... shure are arrmor will go to shti tanking a SBD...but it is posibal.. and farely well done... i know they do miss me...and all i have is master fencer/some pistoler to hit the dodge cap.. but they DO miss me.. so i dont see waht your talkign about high end mobs never missing us

That other dude that posted was right, we do have an armor piercing weapon - the vibroblade. Infact my damage sliced vibroblade had a max damage equal to that of most high end damage sliced Vibro Knucklers. Also combat professions with high defense are balenced by mediocre or lesser damage output. With a vibroblade a fencer should should match damage done by a TKM (I think my average 1h-hit3 with the vibroblade did like 1500-1900 damage in PvE and with Teras Kasi my UAHit3 did like 2000-2400.... so I guess the damage multiplier is lower for us, but that is justified, you can HIT a teras kasi in PvP and fencers are a dif story). Bottom line - kinetic / stun only sucks sort of..we need a new weapon. Look at Teras Kasi - having them ONLY have 1 damage type was apropriate becase of all their vast abilities it balenced it, but even they are getting a new heat weapon.

I think UH3 w/ VK should do more danage than OneHandHit3 w/ Vibroblade. Did you check the HAM usage of UH3 with VK? It is enormous. The HAM cost with OneHandHit3 w/ Vibroblade is significantly low.
As for weapon idea, I just posted idea of a master fencer Medium Piercing Weapon w/ satisfactory (I think) disadvantages. (durability and master cert)
As far as TKAs are concerned, I think they can sit out for a while. They can fight really well. They can take less damage. They can buff themselves. And they can heal themselves. (I dont think they are getting any new weapons. ... )

What i want to know is this - why was I able to slaughter with ease a 500k+ kimo lizard on lok, hardly getting dented in the process and yet those damn enchanced kwi slaughter me and i cant make a dent 
I really love this profession but i so wanna kill those kwi, if for nothing else than revenge, any ideas?
