Or we can take the edge of the wood sword and give em a splinter. How cna anyone attack anyone when tehy have a splinter? They are too busy trying to get it out with out using the horrid needle. Then we cna give them paper cuts too with the hats. Future of fencer: the splinter giving, paper cutting, unfittable profession with the colorful paperhat.

I predict that the Combat Revamp does go thru some day, but instead of being the game saving balancer that everyone seems to think it's going to be, it will introduce a brand new system that is completely unbalanced in new and different ways. Then the devs will have to start from scratch in their attempts to balance the system.

they would probobly implimint a new damage type called wood damage and have it be vulnverable like stun used to be, but then everybody will make "uber l33t" armor with up or 40% wood resists and wede be back to where we started. and the paper hats would give us a dodge bonus becuase while people are wondering why in the hell were wearing a paper hat, well sneak behind em and smack in the back of the head for 20 damage.

Given the fact that so many people are going to be devoteing so much time to make sure that your example doesn't come to reality I personally take offense at that. And it's not just Devs who are going to be working on it. Your insulting your fellow players as well.
Good job you just alienated yourself from each and every single person who put an application in to a Correspondent to be in the sandbox.
How's it feel to put down your fellow players when you attempted only to put down a nameless faceless entitiy?

For me thats the most strange thing in the whole combat balance. Because we already have an action bar which maybe should be used for the actions.

it was a joke. im well aware of the dev and correspondants work they are putting into the revamp to make it better and appreciate it alot. i know its going to be better then the current system, and that its hard work getting it there. leave it to me to be the one singled out outa a hundered people taking cracks at it who actually mean what they say. i did not mean to offend you or anybody, related and non related to the revamp with that post. ill edit it out

and btw, i also dont see why they dont just use the action bar for that. instead of having 3 damage types (health/action/mind) i think it would be interesting to see health/mind and the action bar used for specials. but i guess then they would need to rework action hitting classes like carbineer and pikeman.

you forgot to add that something will be nerfed, fixed, then broken worse than before.
I am still waiting for them to give me a little wooden pirate sword and a hat made out of folded newspaper and saying "ok, now this is our vision of the fencer profession"
J.D.
sounds like the biography of the Commando profession.
amazingly, the wooden pirate swords sounds ok; just replace "wood" with "steel", give us a rapiertoo

Minerunner, glad to see you stating a defense for the CR docs, but others can equally argue that every change up till now has had input from players and hard work frm the devs, that resulted in not so great returns. I think you could of rebutted Minime a bit softer. He is entitled to have a view of things to come just as you are (assuming the 5 picked from every profession will actually do a good job or be able to test what needs tobe tested). Based on the development history of the game, I am not surprised there are skeptics out there, and I happen to be one of them. All the work any tester puts in does not equate a good return. It is SOE that determines a good system. Granted Minime couls of been more tactful, but unfortunatley as a correspondant I personally expect you tobe more so. Also, you are privy to the CR docs we are not. What seems to be a good system to you, may be horrifying to others. I can almost gaurantee there will be people that will quit the game over the CR. No system will be able to be created that everyone in the community will like. And the ones that don't like it will not be saying itis a well developed system, but doesn't fit my play style. Most likely they will say devs lied, devs nerfed, etc. Human nature being what it is.
That said, I predict a Hoth expansion with PvP running amock.
