Thread: Experianced Fencer Saying Hello to his fellow swordbrethren on this glorious day.
Have ya'll see the SWG strat guide yet? The best illustration for an Elite proff is the Fencer! And its a Bothan female! it looks **edit** good
GL on your journey.
I'm working my way up fencer/weaponsmith (I couldn't wait around to rely on someone else to actually bother to make GOOD melee weapons for me) on Kauri.
I just thought I'd chime in with some input. We don't stand a chance in hell, as it was said earlier, against a marksman with a clear line of sight and a good gun...and we shouldn't.
"Fencers" (swordsmen, really) were for fighting in close quarters combat in a city environment...duels or, essentially, "gang" fights. It'd be nice to see some "schools" of the art of defence spring up on the different galaxies -- not PAs, but styles and methods of combat developed by individuals and shared and adapted and changed...(so on and so forth)
I think that the fencer class will really be useful to PAs as part of a combined assault. TK's can put out more damage than we can, as can polearms, but as secondary attackers, or smart fighters, we can put a target down and keep them down while they bleed. We just all need to collaborate on how exactly to do that, in as many ways as possible... ![]()
Who wants to start a School of Fencing on the Gorath server? I'd be willing to relocate though I am currently on Naboo. It'd be an interesting PA!

Total novice here. Just picked up my first sword yesterday, and got to 1H Sword lvl 1. But I like it. Alot.
The issue I saw is that we are so rare, that training was really tough. I wandered Coronet for hours trying to find someone to teach 1H Sword lvl 1. Nothing. I had to pay the full 1000 for the NPC training. I expect this will get worse as we move up levels.
My suggestion is using this board or another so we can find and train one another, or at least let others know where NPC trainers can be found at higher levels (once we are out of Brawler and truly into Fenceror Swordsman)
I'm in Ahazi Coronet right now working my way up to Fencer. Brawler one handed expert currently. Working to master is taking a very long, hard time. Lots of deaths from thugs...
However! I find that killing humanoid NPCs are absolutely easy to do with one handed skills. I just drop them with a lunge then dizzy them. Usually takes out a white or red fairly easily and gain a lot of xp.
Hey everybody,
Aspiring fencerhere. Just wanted to drop my 2 credits worth... My favorite strategy is to give MOBs a couple shots from a distance with my blaster (interm. pistol) and then draw my blade when the get in close. Now, I realize that taking those couple shots lowers my 1 hand xp from the kill, but is it enough to warrant changing my strategy? Just looking for opinions.....
cheers-
This one is a bit off topic, but since some of us have ventured comments about fighting strategies, I thought I'd pitch in too.
Just thought I'd add to the list of fighting strategies for sword-fighters. I am a scout/brawler by trade. I have found that using traps complements my sword fighting. I usually use the mesh trap (the most basic of scout traps) which lowers the creature's melee defense. I can do this before the creature even notices me. Then when it starts to charge, I try to throw in a second (or even third) trap to further handicap it. My usual follow ups include: bone spur and lecapine dart. The effects of all the traps accumulate and make the target easier to take down. The only downside is that offensive traps reduce the target's HAM which also reduces the total experience earned for using the 1-handed melee weapon. (experience seems to be largely based on the amount of damage dealt with the weapon during combat). My 2 credits.

I'll be persuing a similar track: TKA, Fencer, Master Brawler, and fill out Rifleman for as much as can be done. If needed maybe leave some points in novice scout or medic.
aside: I wasn't in the Beta and as a rule stay away from forums for the first week or so of game play . Taking lumps through gaming-life teaches more than starting with knowledge or fancy book learning. And this game is more forgiving than most when it comes to recovery from newbie-knowledge-mishaps. Hail the skill system that lets you change your mind and make mistakes.
I like the stacking of atts the TKA and Fencer get -- unlike any other combo -- and you never know when a blaster might come in handy. I envision being trapped across a gorge getting melted by plasma fire and two options: cloning or make like Neo and leap over. With the later option no option, I'll have a rifle at hand just in case and create a third possibility.
The wise martial artist understands when to fight, when to run, and when to pick up a gun.

currently unarmed2, 1handed2, rifleman2 (but filled out everything else before discovering my true path )
I am also going for master fencer. Currently I'm master 1h and 75000 away from novice fencer. Does anyone know where a fencer trainer is on tatooine or naboo, those are the planets I'm ususally on. I'm on scylla and would help out with any questions fellow fencers have.
