Ok.

The tooth fairy might be easier though, wouldn't even have to hunt, just have her drop off any rancor teeth the babies lost . . .

On a slightly more serious note. What is the highest Gaffi stick damage you have come across or heard of?

around 200 dmg is pretty good,

add a 35% slice = 270

put a 35% powerup = 364

what type of powerups are there and what are the best you can get for a melee weapon? or is there? I am guessing I could just buy a crate off of the bazaar or from a weaponsmith of melee powerups? I have used a few for my pistols before . . . but I barely know anything about them. I just started combat really, was a tailor. Dropping it and going for fencer and CH.I am gonna look into finding one for about 200 base damage then, get it sliced, and buy a few powerups. Thanks so much again!

my ryyk is 95-220 sliced, no enhancement. Stun batons are good for people using armor good for people weak against stun. The ryyk works real good for me i use on most everything cept when stun baton is needed. I also use a Curved Sword 96-210 when doin duelin, it has good range modifiers. The baton is nice i can get one that has max over 350, good for animal hunting and mobs.

If you're at one-hand 3 I'd lean towards a curved sword. Faster, more accurate.

The Gaffi comes into its own once you get faster and accurater.

Okeeeeeeeee, I just sold my sliced curved sword. Lol. It wasn't hitting as much damage, and still isn't, as my Gaffi. Its sliced with no enhancements at around 223. My Ryyk isn't very good. . . but it isn't sliced yet. Why should I choose the curved sword over gaffi? the gaffi hits for more . . . even if it isn't as accurate, wouldn't it be better? And the speed thing. 3.1 or blah blah blah, is it faster if it is a lower decimal? like 1.2? or faster if it is like 3.1? Thanks again!

Lower speed is faster. The speed is the number of seconds between attacks.

The general rule is that the weapon's speed is the delay between attacks in seconds. So say you have a 2.0 speed curved sword that hits for 75-125.Assuming a flat distribution curve for the damage's random selection (every number is equally likely), it will average 100 points of damage every two seconds, or 50 dmg/sec. A Gaffi baton with 100-200 damage with a 3.5 speed will average 150 damage every 3 1/2 seconds, or 43 dmg/sec. So you're hitting harder, but less often, so doing less overall damage.

Hmm, maybe a better way to describe it is to look at a 28 second sliceof combat. Using a curved sword, you'd hit 14 times, doing around 1400 total damage (average 100 * 14). Using a gaffi baton, you'd hit 8 times, doing 1200 damage. Even assuming every hit was maxed, the sword would do 125 * 14 = 1750, the gaffi would do 200 * 8 = 1600. Granted, that's a pretty weak Gaffi, but it at least shows how raw damage may not be as important as speed.

Now, the speed get's adjusted by your "1-handed weapon speed" skill, but I'm not sure how you can check that adjustment. Does it change the weapon's displayed speed when you examine it (maybe requiring it to be equipped), or is there some known calculation using the weapon's speed and your skill value? The speed currently caps at 1.0, so once you reach that with the various weapons, the raw damage gets more important.

I'm just now getting to the point where I've got some weapon choice, so I'm working on some number crunching: Dmg/sec, dmg*hit% / sec, HAM usage per (dmg per sec), vibroblad dmg adjustment for armor types, etc.

Taggz I have seen you around coronet. If you would like to "test drive" any of the fencer weapons please send me an in game tell. I am usually on late at night. I have a house named Temple of The Blade. If you run across it north of coronet ( I cant remember the waypoint ) go in the entry stair case and examine the items on the wall, if u find something u like I'll loan it to you. I have a 256 gaffi on the wall. It has been sliced. I don't use it due to the high ham cost.

is it even possible to get a gaffi with at least 200 damage that has a speed of 1.0? Probably be pretty expensive . . .
