Well said Kali and Fury.

I want to add that any community that becomes "popular" will have such problems you describe. It comes from an elitist mentality that trend-wh res have. And I mean trendwh re in the nicest of ways it can be.

The reason obviously being holos are attracting nothing but powergamers. Some of them actually find that they like the class, and eventually care enough about it. This is a good and bad thing. I think it's mostly good because our isolation as a community to the rest of swg professions really hurt us a lot (look what happened a few patches ago, we were left out). The more voices we have in here, the better. Even if it means sacrificing some of those qualities you describe as good prior to many people coming in here holohunting. I think that as a profession we must sacrifice those in order to balance ourselves in the game. Without that, I don't care how stylish, or nice our community is, if we aren't a balanced class then people will refuse to play it because it just doesn't become fun.

I think that the only solution to Kali's problem (she's right, though. i remember getting shot down for the same observation long long ago.) is the same thing that i suggested in that post long long ago. just be civil. i won't point fingers, though i have targets. i won't call names, though i have some good ones. i won't fault those that i feel are bringing the community down. that's sort of what i did in my post along this same vein, and i got the same responses you got, Kali. it's hard for me to put this in a non-abrosive way, but i'm trying, i swear.

i will be as civil as i can. i've stopped noting others' behaviors that are less than civil, and i now frequently ignore posts whereas i used to add something to everything. i'm afraid, Kali, that no one here wants to be reprimanded, and more disconcerting, when anyone is, it degenerates into "yeah, but you did this!" and accustations. i wish we could maintain that atmosphere when i first signed on and was too scared of looking stupid to post. now i'm scared of coming of as an ass without meaning to.

i'll do my best. i'll try to help newbies with (what i might consider) stupid questions. sometimes the titles of threads aren't descriptive, and it is faster to just ask and get a smartass reply. sometimes i'm lazy. i don't know. i would love to police the boards, but such a responsibility is both too great a task, and i am too little for it.

besides; we don't get along, Kali, and we put up with each other. surely these other fellows can't be worse than me, eh?
