Uh... jedi's can only be jedis... not other profs. I too have recently changed from commando to fencer.. I see a guy that is a rifle/fencer and keeping TKA 4004.. useless the def stack is capped at 125.. rifle and fencer masters will put u at about 120 in each... I had to go with the TKA 4300... it boosts yer status defences, +20 to KD and also gives u an unarmed KD to go with that dizzy u get.


FOTM is the DEVELOPERS fault. I was a commando master and it was what I WANTED to play.. but 167 pts for no defence and only rockets for pvp was nuts. Now with my so called FOTM I am shocked to no end.. I ran outta space on my toolbar for once. It is nuts coming from where I was to spending the same amount of points for things that WORK.


The devs have only fixed 5 profs as it stands in the combat realm. Fencer, Swordsman, CM (??), Rifleman, and TKA.. Everyone can master 2-3 of these as they are only 92 pts... That is why u will see so many as 1 of the 5... carbineers are up and coming and so they could be soon number 6.


For those of us that do nothing but pvp... u have to go with what WORKS. I tried to keep my commano but it became a case of, keeping it would not allow me to pvp anymore and I would had to of quit cause of boredom. The FOTM allows us to still compete in the war.

honrestly im not concerned with the pve aspect of fencer. I am a master rifleman if i cant kill it with a rifle before it gets close enough to hit me from melee range then i needed something to at least give me a few seconds to kite out of there since i lag horrribly so often in combat. a few status effects a dizzy knockdown and a few dozen meters of distance gets me far enough away to switch back to my rifle and gain distance. Or if i get tired of the chase a nice old fashion stun baton beating would be nice to deal an already weakened opponent.



I am working on a PvP template. currently master rifleman, master fencer, and tka 4 3 look to be my best options. But i really enjoy the fencing class i just wish i could figure out the right balance for my ham.

i was a fencer back from december until march, i decided to try TK and hated it, im going back to fencer

I'm doing fencer for a 4th time and Heavy swords for the second time and I love em both but then again i all the melee classes even have some pikemen skills which kick arse so i dont think i picked it to be uber l33t or cause its a FOTM if i wanted to do something like that i would just pick up master brawler/commando flame/pistoleer/medic great combo but anyhoo not every one picks fencer to be l33t

I'm mastering fencer for the 3rd time right now. Different server/char this time. One of my original threads from waaaay back still gets bumped now and then, ive been fencer from the start, just not consistantly

Swordsman has never gotten fixed, their saving grace is Mind damage and the Powerhammer(Now Scythe....But i won't consider a single weapon as Balance) When you look slosly at the swordsman you'll see we have two Near identical lines of Special area attacks. Only reason Swordsman Seem "Fixed" is because they do Mind damage and have the Blast AP2 damageof the powerhammer. We Also, like fencers, have Weapons issues....."I Mastered Swordsman to use a Big hammer?!?" I'm a Master Fencer, Let me use My Lead Pipe that has a Spiky Ball attached to it" (Although it reality It would make an Awesomesport fencing weaponBecause of its weight and "Crowbar like Hook" to trap other blades....It doesn't realy feel as Smooth and Gracefull as a Fencer weapon )


CM's Live in Fear of their Class being Nerfed into Oblivion Everyday, and are arguably Very underpowered in PvE.


Riflemen and TK(And fencer to a much lesser extent)however i can't contest Getting Significant attention and Being VERY playable and Complete Classes

I have been many things in game, all non-holo except heavy sword. But fencer was the first back at the release of the game. I was 3 boxes from mastering. When i dropped it go weaponsmith. Back then we had so little defenses and power was nothing. Now im back to see the changes and finish what i started June 26th.

Been here way since june staying as long as I play. As a single profession the fencer is as closed to balanced or at least in my eyes. We have great defense good adaptability but horrible damage and bad ham costs. Fact is before the acklay came along it was near impossible to get a stun baton above 200 damage or gaffi above 300. Whats unbalancing about the fencer is the fact is that it can combine with several other unbalancing aspects of the game thus allowing a person to become a defensive machine. For example a Fencer/ Doc can cure any state buff himself to huge stats and wear a full suit ofeffectiveness sliced stun composite armor and still not have to think about ham cost. Considering his move choice is going to blind then dizzy odds are you cant burst run away and cant hit spit. However alone The fencer profession has several vunerablties. The FOTM in this game is caused mostly by the problem that the devlopment of professions is overseen by several different teams None of which bother to look outside the box and see how overpowering what they are working might be if combined with what theother teams are working on.

Umm... I should have said, "With the upcoming Jedi revamp..." According the upcoming revamp, you will learn Jedi skills off your main, slowly developing into a Jedi. Given that, for a revamped Jedi wannabe, it's a no-brainer to learn fencer before you start down your Jedi path, to get the dodge and melee defences before you go into Jedi. Dodge remains the most powerful defence in the game.

I disagree about the dodge. Counterattack is just as good. It does the same thing. Difference being the cob mods. Tell a pistoleer about how great dodge is. He'll smack you. "I'm getting hit by this TKM.... Kite him.... Crap. I stopped to dodge. Kite some more... Oops. I'm dead."


Dodge is great for a fencer, but it's crappy for a Pistoleer. Carbineers have it easier.
