Thread: We're looking for a new Fencer Correspondent!
Hi all ![]()
Of course, I am still around, and Iread ourboards everyday. I used to do much of my "little posts" from work during my breaks or lunch hour, but recently the filter system banned SWG Forums since SOE is listed as a "Mature Game". So I can no longer access this site from my office. However, I can and will from my home. There just hasn't been too much say recently, and what there was to say has already been posted by many sources.
As for becomming the Fencer correspondant, if you feel that I could do the job justice I will give it my all. I will do my best to representour proud and noble Fencer Community; expressing our collective voice in a professional and honorable fashion. I promise not to abandon my appointed office, and will faithfully serve our community until another is chosen.
There is still the matter of being selected by the devs though. I will submit my name for the Correspondant position, but several great people have as well and will be tough but welcome competition. I wish them all luck, and will support whomever is ultimately selected.I'll remainvery dedicated to our cause and will continue to do everything I can for this community, regardless of whether I am officially considered our correspondant or not.
I don't know if nominations on this thread will influence the dev's decision or not, but either way I appreciate your show of support and thank you for the kind words.

Okay guys...
I know a good share about Fencers, I ALMOST have Novice. I don't go to work, I go to .../gulp, 7th grade. Still, I have spend alot of time on these forums and have been playing since day 2. You guys think I could be a candidate or do I not have enough experience...
"Er hem! As my first act as Fencer coorespondent, Stun Batons should be changed to.. THIS!!!

OkayI know. It's all yellow. But, think of the handle to be blackish gray and the end to be blue and electricky (...Is that a word?)" Anyway, here's another picture thats even BETTER, you should look at this one.

I know they are from JKII but SWG and JK are both Lucasarts, right? Maybe they could change the image so we don't look like S.W.A.T. units...
I have also submitted myself as a potential candidate for correspondent. I did so more out of fear that we'd all whine about not having one and then no one would step up to take it. I know I have not been vocal on the forums until very recently but I have kept up with them. I too work full time but would make time in the evenings to do my duties to represent the Fencer community.
I am a developer and I wouldtry to be fair to both sides.I would hope tobe able to communicate with the SWG devs on their level, but also communicate with the community. The bottom line is I'm here to play this game as a Fencer, and I want what's best for my character. Not special treatment but fair and equal treatement.
Personally I agree with most that Raphayl is probably the best fit. But I'm tossing my hat in as well. Regardless of who gets picked we all win here. We'll have a voice once again.

I've noticed they're looking for a lot of new Correspondents, not sure if it's just for professions with ones that quit or if it's game wide. I'm not a pessimist but is it really going to make much difference whether we have one or not? All they do is submit their reports which all correspondents were told to put a hold on several weeks ago anyway. But if nothing else at least fencer will finally have someone with a Master character on Test Center to give things a look. Here's hoping.
Well, after the last "crash and burn" I hope the Devs have a better idea what to expect from the Correspondents and what the Correspondents expect from the Devs. The first thing is, don't expect weekly updates on five different issues. I would rather see one well thought out responce to one issue then five "we are looking in it"s. Second, is good change is a slow and sometimes painful growing process. Over the next few months there will be many changes. Some good (new stun batons and gaffi sticks) some bad (KD/posture change timers) In the end, I have faith that the good will out weigh the bad. Remember you have to go though a lot of Manuer to get a nice rose ![]()

I'll toss my support in favor of Raphyal/Lyahpar. I considered running at one point, but then I realized that I don't really have the time to *fully* investigate all of the Fencer's problems (although I tend to keep abreast of them), much less log in to the damned game and play every now and then.
(But yeah, FYI, I am back and trolling the forums now. Yay!)
He has an excellent understanding of the game's architecture and gets my vote.
I'd like to see SOE offer some incentive to the best candidates.
Clearly a good corespondent will add a lot of value to the game, a couple of months free subscriptions doesn't seem too much to ask.
Once again... RAPHAYL FOR CORRESPONDENT!
Peace
