Thread: Your Ferocious Warcry Stops your target in his tracks!!!!
I don't really see how it would help a whole lot with kiters... you still have to be pretty close to use Warcry. That doesn't seem to be the case with Intimidate - I've intimidated things from a good distance away, but Warcry only seems to work when I'm nearly within fighting distance already.
Is this intentional or a bug? Anyone know?

I was also curious, I assume warcry does no damage, but i use it in a macro and it seems that after i fire the macro, warcry1 happens and then they suddenly lost half their red health. Is it because my second attack in the macro fired that fast, or did i scream half their health away?
warcry doesn't hurt them at all (but that's not something i can confirm). i've never done damage to anyone with it. but that may be my mistake and your sharp eye.
intimidate is not area effective. i've been fighting a lot of Tuskens lately (anyone who's read my last ten posts knows that), and i'm positive on the intimidate being single-target. for warcry doing damage, i'm 95% certain it does not do any damage except to you when you use it.
i'm mixed on the freezing of warcry2. on one hand i would love to be able to catch a kiter. on the other hand, it might make us too powerful. as it is now, if we can catch a kiter, we're pretty much assured of a victory. so either way, it could be bad, or could be great.

I agree that it wouldn't make sence to make a novice brawler move so effective as to stop someone completely. Let us not forget that there is a warcry 2 given to the Master Brawler. Not many ranged professions are going to be able to spare enoughSP to masterbrawler simply to get warcry. Perhaps warcry 1 could slow a person down to a walking pace, while warcry 2 stops them completly for 5 seconds or so (or even just slowed them to a walk as well).
I personally think that a better solution to this problem would be a toggle burst run as I have mentioned before. Instead of a full on/off burst run, we would have a key that you could hold down while you burst, that would drain from a meter.
Also there are a few things we need to remember about Warcry. First off, there is a timer on warcry 2 (I don't know about warcry 1, but I assume there is); it's a30 second timer. Secondly warcry has a low success rate, and a high ham cost that I think is deserving of a little more umph in it's effectivness. Lastly I think I found that the warcry range is about 18m.
Last I thought I would discuss some of my tactics for attacking kiters:
1) Most Importantly is the usage of barriers and buildings in the game: A good melee profession should know how to use everything in their enviornment to trap ranged where they need them. Obviously if you're out in the middle of the desert with nothing around this doesn't apply.
2) I know burst run is precious, but dont' be afraid to use it if it will save your life. it's extremly effective for closing the gap (although it doesn't matter how close you are if your opponent is burst running as well; always out of range for some reason)
3) Often times ranged kiters aren't as bright as you would think. Combat can get confusing; there is a lot to think about. More often than not, simply turning around and running the other direction will cause them to do the same in pursuit (or atleast stop). By the time they realize that you aren't actually running away, and you've turned around to resume pursuit, it's too late.
4) Never run at someone who is kiting in a straight path to them. Always curve outside of them; this causes them to constantly be changing their direction. For some reason this often makes them stop entirely as it appears that you aren't even running at them.
5) Don't forget that lunge1 and 2 are effective at 13m.
Hope this helps. I assume that these tactics will work for my professions, but just for reference, I'm a master fencer, with master brawler lunge2 knockdown (which is vital in my opinion), and warcry 2 (20 second delay, 30 second timer)

Actually, I'm pretty sure that lunge 1 doesn't have the range that lunge 2 has. I may be mistaken- but I don't think so.
My success rate with Warcry is pretty high ::shrug:: And the timer only sets if you are successful. A timer exists as it stands- so I'm not certain why this is an issue. There's also a timer on burstrun - (So forget it if you have five other guys who want to duel you after they see you beat down their buddy--- YOU ARE TOO TIRED TO RUN -- this is a HUUUUUGE issue in PvP)
Burst run is also,HUGELY inacurrate imo - a lot of the time, when burst running, I over shoot, or run into a building. Not very helpful - especially in cities.
Also, with respect to the success rate--- the *only* way to makeANY "disabling" type move 'fair' is to have some sort of limit on it's success rate. You have lunge for backup - and burst run, if you need it.

thanks for that!
Bols, yes, if they don't pack swarm you. Stay away from the Voritors. They are rather vicious and poison you too, which is a double whammy. Knockdown and then Warcry2, toss an Intim 2 before they get up, and just go crazy pummeling them. Real serious damage. But I use the ap2 weapons from Heavy Swordsman line, typically. As a Fencer with my Rykk, I don't do much against those armored and resistant lizzies. Not much at all.
And it is brutal in PvP if you catch up with someone. Usually when they see me charging with the power hammer, first instinct is to start kiting and running. You get within 15, lunge2, and whammo, down they go. War2, Mindbleed 2, Scalp Slam over and over...end of story.
If they stick, and you have Master Brawler, anyway.
Baluka, Wookiee Version of Kill Bill on Bria. (Heavy Swordsman, Fencer, Master Brawler, Master Marks, Flame Commando(dropping this and marksman tree),medic and ex-squad leader, whew.)
Warcry 2 note
If a target is knocked down when Warcry 2 hits they cannot get up. Even without dizzy untill the Warcry is done.
It's still not very reliable... but if the PvMonster opening macro I have all works at once...
(Warcry2, Lunge2, HealthBleed1, HealthBleed2, Intimidate2, Blind 1)
Then I spam Bodyhit3....
in the 20 seconds the NPC is lying on the ground for it dies. Kamurith Defilers don't even get a hit in if I'm lucky.
Also even if they classify dizzy and Lunge2 as a exploit combo, (yes I know sometimes the NPC buggs but it's not always and I've been painfully killed by the proof of that) the answer is Lunge2/Warcry2...
20second KD which gives you 20 seconds to pummle them while they are overly exposed to you and taking nearly double damage from lying on their backs.
And **edit** if you can't kill something at 1400 damage a second while they aren't fighting back in 20 seconds... something is wrong.
Well this all supposes that Warcry 2 goes off.
But you get the meaning.
