For what it's worth, death has never caused weapons to decay on the live servers.

Weapons, unlike armor, have always had a built-in decay system based upon use modified by special attacked. Therefore, weapons have always been flowing out of the economy and there was no reason to increase the penalty of dying to keep this portion of the economy flowing.

Also, incapacitating has never affected weapon (or any other) decay on the live servers. Cloning is what triggers item decay. If you are just incapacitated or if you die and get a resusitate, your items will not decay.

To summariaze, (1) Cloning triggers item decay and (2) Weapons are not included in item decay because they use their own decay system.

Here is a quote directly from Thunderheart.

"Again, those Decay Rates are:

  • NO decay for incapacitation

  • 1% decay on death if you are insured

  • 5% decay on death with no insurance

Clothing, Armor, Tools, Jewelry are insurable and will decay small amounts on death."
