Welcome to the world that's been long inhabited by Creature Handlers. You know: the one where you don't do any damage.
Now, just imagine if the devs lobbed in a few 60-megaton nerf nukes into the mix and limited you to AP-0/kinetic-only wooden clubs. Imagine further that your most dangerous special attacks now were non-functional, or else only worked randomly and at widely-spaced intervals, including all your uber DoT weapons only delivered their poison/mind fire/disease randomly. Or worse, let's say the best ones were revamped so they could no longer be used at all.
Take all those nerfs and strip you of all defenses, and you then might have some idea of how it feels to have an entire profession nerfed to oblivion. And then toss this thread into the Creature Handler forum and see how much sympathy you get.
Your stun batons are diminished in PvP? You poor lost souls....

BTW, if your not a fencer, whats the point of being here?
Secondly, PSGs with LS protection may shift after you log off or whatever but a hardcore PvP'er would do the following with their PSG's... Pull PSG out of crate, put PSG into Anti-Decay Kit, Go pvp for a good long time, log out, Upon logging back in delete the PSG now that the stats have shifted and get you decay kit back, rinse repeat.

NOt quite... 60% off ofa 1000 damage attack= 400 damage
then 40% off ofa 400 damage reduced attack= 240 damage
then factor in toughness, etc

You are forgetting about Mitigations then the actual Armor. Please stop trying, you don't have an idea of what you're talking about.

I actually thought carefully before posting this. I thought it would be educational to check out other professions' discussions -- y'know, see how the other half lives and such. What I'm seeing, is EVERY forum has its share of whining. The cure for whining is often a dose of reality.
My purpose in posting was to offer a different perspective to this particular discussion. It could have been any of several threads you can see in this forum arguing for this or that to make fencers even more godlike than they already are. Granted, I crafted a provocative post, but I was curious about how you would respond.
The first few responses to my post are as I expected. They're typical of the smug go-to-hell attitude I run into in-game alltoo often among melee stackers.
There is no such thing as an issue that only pertains to any single profession. The state of the game for fencers affects everyone, directly or indirectly in ways both intended and unintended. For example, docs at one time before the game was released (while in beta testing) could heal all three HAM stats, including Mind. This made it so they could function like perpetual-motion machines. The devs responded by removing Mind from thehealing picture. The unintended consequence of that was that Mind became the prime stat for people to focus on in PvP. And since the hardest damage type to develop protection for was Stun, that in turn became the centerpiece of the next wave of development. Riflemen sought out Jawa Ion Rifles, and armorsmiths developed stun layers for armor and PSG's with stun defenses. And so the wheel turns. The thing is, while you and your cronies whine and lobby for improvements for yourselves in this or that element of your profession, the bigger picture is that the rest of the game goes further and further out of balance for everyone who is not a FOTM melee template. Where will it end? Will you only be satisfied when you've reached such a point that no one else can function in combat? Or will you press the issue until nobody feels they can, say,function in the game as an artisan, because they have to spend all their skill points on a stacker template just to venture out their front door? Who will make your acklay-enhanced stun batons then?
But then, all this discussion, including the original debate over stun batons versus high-Stun-defense armor/PSG/clothing combos will soon be irrelevant, once the CURB goes live. Personally, I wouldn't expect the devs to do anything about this issue between now and then.Based on the information I've seen from the developers, it's pretty clear it's one of the main issuesdriving therevamp. For my part, I can hardly wait. After all, this is supposed to be Star Wars, more or less -- not EverCrack.

You can buy them from the community.

Saber Resists on PSGs are intended.
And if you destroy the item that the AD kit is on you recover it.

No, you got me wrong, i was just showing that 60% shield plus a 40% armor does NOT equal 100%
400 - 50% = 200(AP0 vs AR1)
200 - 40% = 120(Armor stun resist)
And there is still mitigation, toughness, and the Armor Rating on a PSG, but who the hell knows if it works. Some of you may have to drop your TKM/Fencer/M. Brawler defensive template if you want offensive power. Oh, the horror.
