Thread: Is this weapon of any use to fencers?

I am a weaponsmith and a fencer. Not been fencer for long and I really lack your guys experience. I spent a few hours reading the fencer forums recently but stillI dont have any idea if this weapon is of any use.
Vibroblade
Speed: 2.4
Min damage: 57
Max damage: 166
Range: +14/+14/+14
HAM: 14/26/14
Price: 500-700k
With a 35% slice this would be 77-224dmg.
I have three points to put into range or ham. I put one in range and two in ham this time but it could go either way. Depends on what you guys recomend.
When/how would you use this weapon? I dont know if its worth me making any of these as they would be so expensive.

Yeah, thats about what I thought too. I figured I could make more credits with the motors in VK's as they do sell for 700k each. Even using lowly Nym loot motors to just add +20 to max damage over my normal vibro blades would push the price upto 400k the same as similar VK's.

I've been a master of both for a long time now. There are a few times when using the vibro is the best way to go but not many. As a MWS I'd put a few vibros on my vendor just to be complete. As a Fencer/MWS I'd make an enhanced vibro for myself just because I HAVE to give myself the absolute best I can make :-)

I'm thinking along the same lines. Just make enough so I can get a 30% or higher slice then sell the rest off.
When is the best situation for using a Vibroblade? I am also TKM and Swordman. Going to be master fencer and master swordsman, and loose two boxes from TKA.

If only there were a way to get the min damage bumped up a bit I'd be willing to buy them and give a shot at decent slices. I am going to be the masochist that uses NS vibro units on a vibroblade if I ever come across them. I've hade one vibroblade made with Nyms units already and got a speed slice and dumped it, but even if it had gotten a decent damage slice it would have pretty much been worthless to me except for against ranged opponents and even then the stun baton with twice the damage would still do more damage every time.

This sword has light AR1 piercing if I am correct. I have never used one...mainly because I thought they looked kinda hokey and two, I never thought they did much damage. I'm notsure the AR1 piercing works any better than a say a plain old gaffi stick. Any comments? I'm interested to know if I should give this weapon more respect and add it to my arsenal.

Well this blade I have made does have the min damage bumped up a bit over normal Vibroblades. This Vibroblade has the same bonus as a Nym motor one but with other higher specs too.
Saying about the stun batton, I would guess thats going to beat any Vibroblade no matter how good its stats are. I suppose this would only be any use to a fencer if a mob had kinetic vulnerability and wasnt vulnerable to stun.

This weapon could be usefull for PvE with a good dammage slice. I dont think I would pay 500-700K for it unsliced though.

If you are a Swordsman too, then don't waste your time on a Vibroblade. A fast Scythe will beat it every time and you can get scythes as fast as 2.0 speed.
Vibroblade is fun for stuff with Medium Armor, that's about it. If amob has Light Armor and say over 50% Kinetic then maybe a Vibroblade over a gaffi unless you have a nice Ackley Gaffi.

It's been my experience with Vibroblades that they dont do anywhere near as much damage (in practice) as you would logically think they would do. As an example: I have a decent unsliced vibroblade, much like the one that you have. I also have your run of the mill 215 max gaffi stick. When i fight something with 0ar rating the gaffi stick does nearly 2 times thedamage that the vibroblade does. When i fight something with 1ar they do about the same damage with the gaffi stick still averaging higher. I haven't had the chance to test either of them against a tier 3ar mob yet, but face it, if you are going to fight something like that you are gonna generally want a better weapon than either of those to begin with.
In summation: In practically every situation where you would generally use a vibroblade a moderately-decently crafted gaffi stick will be better. This sucks, and goes against everything you would logically think about armor piercing but the numbers in practice don't lie.

lol that is the template i had for the longest time....gave weaponsmith up for pistoleer. WOOT go defense stacking!

If u can get the lower end to 100 and the top end to 250 or so.. it is a good weapon..
