Hey Fellow fencers. I was curious about the Jinda caves. From what I hear a person can master fencer there in a single day. Currently I am fighting on Dantooine (Quenkers and Voritors) with little trouble. I don't have any armor. I get full buff sets and 2 brandys. I have a gaffi (roughly 132-232). My skills are currently 0/1/0/0.

You think I canhandle the Jinda Caves solo? Should I wait for 0/2/0/1 (should be very soon, tonight maybe) before going? Should I wait longer? Basically how much harder are the Jinda Cave mobs (not sure what they even are lol) than the Quenkers/Voritors and do they pack assist? Is there any room for taking a break to med? When fighting the Quenkers I can handle a few at a time, but it does sometimes eat away at my HAM significantly.

You need armor in this cave, the Jinda's tend to swarm and you can find yourself quickly surrounded and beat down in a hurry.

You can get a boat load of XP in this cave, but you have to be alone. Too often there are a half dozen other people trying ot do the same thing, so there's usually not much to kill.

i was only getting roughly 3k per kill... While there are are TON of these things in the cave they aren't the fastest thing in the world to kill. With pike and swords i mastered by spamming spin attacks when i got swarmed, spin attack1 coupled with WEAK fencer weapons is pretty useless. Even if you had an ackley baton you wouldn't be able to spam spin attacks due to the outrageous mind costs on stun batons. I went there late last night, it was full of them, but it just felt like it was taking way to long to bring them down using area attacks. I was having to do the dizzy/lunge combo, and spam hit 2 to take them down. And since i'm only 0103 my auto attack with a gaffi stick is too slow to rely on, and my stun baton is about as effective since its only 160 dmg. I might try to find a good vibroblade and use it, its speed and ap1 might help speed it up.

And when you're getting close to master they're kind of easy to take out and don't yield enough XP to warrant the effort. I'm having the same problem with Ft. Tusken now too (except for the observer/witch doctor dudes of course) it's too easy and I don't get much XP. So now I'm just running missions on Endor. *sigh* Only 200k XP left...

I had a Force sensitive character, with 23 and a half boxes ground out.
I had a master creature handler.
I had a high lvl crafter character.
I had a Bounty Hunter that I hunted PC Jedi with.

My game is dead.

I did quenkers/savage quenkers for the grind to master, with a few gurk lairs thrown in. Another good tactic is just wander Endor and do the wild lairs. Gurrecks, bloodseeker mites, etc. These should get you lots of XP fairly quickly.

I never use my stun baton in PvE unless the mob is fairly highly resistant to kinetic, then I switch from my gaffi. After a while, you'll get the feel for which mobs need which weapons. And to answer the question about Rykk blades and swords, if you can find one with decent damage output compared to your gaffi, use that, as the speed on the swords tends to be much lower.

I would prefer normal quenkers to savage ones.. with the normal ones you can just target the lair, and spam your spin attack (you need some ubese armor though, in the beginning they will hit too much, even with cob on. later on, they never hit ). got me from novice to master in about 3 days.

the savage ones have a ranged attack, and tend to kite..

I used the Jinda Cave method to grind Fencer and only wore Ubese Pants and Ubese Gloves (I was going for more of a look than protection :smileytongue. I was getting close to 5k per kill and had no problem taking the large mobs of them out pretty quickly. It's a very easy cave. Just make sure you have spin attack 2.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'll hold off on those caves for now. If they only kick out 3k and are crouded I may be better of sticking to the Quenkers. I get, I think, 2 to 2.5k each for them and they're fairly easy (safe). Plus the mission money comes in handy.

Aelric, I went to Endor once right when I got novice Fencer and I actually fought one of those Bloodseeker mightsyou mentioned. I did ok...damaged it fairly well, but ultimately I ended up running away and getting killed. At the time I was using a decent curved sword (I later got a better curved sword and now a nice gaffi). I think I could take that bloodseeker now, especially once I get my Footwork II and Finesse I. Although I don't know if I could handle a lair of them swarming me.

Jarek, I noticed the same thing about SpinAttack 1. It seems a lot of people praise the SpinAttack but I figure they must be talking about SpinAttack 2 or something. Maybe it's a good tactic for like 5 mobs at once, but with my Gaffi using, i think, 1handedattack 2 I can do like 1300 damage, whereas I seem to do like 300 to each mob with SpinAttack. Being that I try to avoid fighting more than 2 or 3 mobs that translates into like 600 to 900 damage per attack. My numbers could be off...basically it just seems to not work so I usually Dizzy, Intimidate, Bleed, then use my higher damage attack (i think it's 1handedattack 2) and re-apply the dizzy, intimidate, bleed effects as needed. Also, I of course use COB.

Any critique or strategy advice about my above combat tactics would also be welcomed. Even if it's to say "Moron, intimidate is a waste of a potential attacl" or something similar. I'm still learning this combat strategy stuff. I never used any status effects before. I just sorta throw them into my mix as I read about them if they sound good. I think I read somewhere that intimidate either makes them easier to hit or less likely to hit you...whatever it does it sounded good at the time.

First, go up the footwork (speed) tree. You'll notice a world of difference when you are using that gaffi or sword. After that, I guess it's all personal preference on which tree you go up next. But good luck on your leveling.

Oh..and once you get a little higher up, grab some friends and head to the Geo cave (with buffs and armor) and find the spawns of crazed geos or mercs. The combat XP and one handed XP is wonderful, if you can withstand the beatings.

Nothing like going into the room where all the geos spawn and have 20+ surround you while you're doing spin2. Talk about fun..and the loot ain't terrible either.

Hehe I was thinking I'd go up the Footwork tree first (seems to be a unanymous agreement that it's the best way to go) and then go up whatever skill tree gives SpinAttack2 (I think the first one on the far left?). As for the Geo caves, sounds great! lol

You guys know of any decent places I could go for fun, just to break up the Quenker xp grind, where I can try to get some decent loot drops at this level? (Will be 0201)

Also, where/what do I hunt for acklay drops? I imagine it's a bit out of my league now, but for future reference.

for the others trees: I would do technique first.. at technique 2 and with cob, I was getting hit 1 out of 15 or so..

for quenkers: make sure you are in a solo group of 12 or more people:

1>12 people = 6 quenkers

12>20 people = 12 quenkers

I was thinking about doing this actually. I see a ton of people shouting about solo groups in Dant. If I went to Dant with a partner is there any reason the two of us couldnt join a solo group and still partner? It wouldnt be as good as solo in a solo group. But partners in a solo group would be better than partners in just a two man group, right?

Another question on groups...I took my buddy who is a novice brawler (also going up onehanded tree to fencer) with me last night so he could leach xp and advance quickly. It worked pretty well. I took the hits and he got lots of xp (1000 per kill roughly which brought him from novice brawler to almost filling Onehanded 4 as well as a level or two in rifle in a few hours). The only problem was I didnt get a cut from his missions (although he still only got half of the total) and he didnt get a cut from my missions (and I got a half of the total). The remaining half just disapeared. Are people of vastskill difference not able to profit from the same mission while in group together?

I personally leveled almost exclusively in the Jinda caves. I ended up with around 20 ro 30 various SEA tapes and once you get footwork tree done the rest is a breeze. I would get buffed, go to the cave and get anywhere from 600-800k exp, go get trained, buffed, rinse, repeat. Master Fencer in no time.

The geono caves are great now at master. I sat there with my COB macro and spinattack2 and take down just about anything. So far, fencer is by far the most fun I've had. I have gone up most of the pistoleer tree and that is a LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGG grind, hated it. Squad leader was easier, but very, very boring in my opinion. NOw I can't wait to pvp as fencer.....

Bottom line, have fun while you level, if you need the money, do missions to level or hit the jinda caves and hopefully you can loot some skill tapes away from the AFK looters which you can sell at auction. If money isn't a problem, I suggest Endor and just run/ride around beating on different lairs. Just watch out for Mereks as they can do some nasty mind poison/disease. They were the only mob that killed me, and it was the bleeds that did it (actually, I just didn't run quick enuf). Enjoy the ride!!
