Thread: Stat Migration for Fencer
1) if you have the funds or access to quick and easy doctor buffs regularly, I would migrate a lot to mind/focus/willpower. Fencer weapons get very fast, with moderate HAM costs. Spamming these specials will burn you mind pool very quickly without the focus (mental stamina) and willpwer (mental regen) there to compensate. Add minor healing abilities and you can see how you mind pool will be blown away quite qickly without a single mental attack being delivered;
2) Alternatively, if you are not fortunate enough to be able to keep yourself in doctor buffs, I would suggest action being your first focus. Follow that with moderate increases to you health bar to compensate for the obvious bleeds and attacks that will mix with your weapon specials HAM cost. You will of course want to now start purchasing food/drink to maintain a strong mental pool. Food/drink costs much less over the course of several days than trying to maintain doctor buffs in that same duration. At 5-8k for a full set of doctor buffs that last 3 hours, barring death or disconnection, you will spend much more than buying a crate of food (30-50k) and a crate of drinks (15-30k) that will last you up to 2 weeks. I have never been a fan of spice downers, so I cannot comment on them as well as food/drink, so you will have to experiment with them to see which you prefer.
Now, while all this may sound expensive, this is also based on persistant combat in both PvE and PvP. Food/drink gets even less expensive over time when you consider down time chatting, buying, selling, etc.
As stated, fencers get very fast. They are not the best tanks in low levels until you get get the 3rd ladder maxed for dodge and mitigation2, which will significantly decrease the amount of damage you take allowing for better use of specials. Also, dont make the mistake of thinking that you need to keep your combat action box filled with specials all during a battle. The moto of the carbineer "I bet I can kill me faster than you can kill me" will echo in your head as you watch special after special eat away at your HAM and the target will not break a sweat trying to finish you off.
So, it really depends on your play style. In PvE, you have more room to play with stats and use more of a balancing act to level out increases in each HAM block. However, in PvP these balances will be used to the fullest advantage of anyone that targets you and you need to be a little more specific in which you choose to migrate higher than the rest based on the availability of enhancements (doctor, chef, spice).
I hope this helps, even though it does sound a little like common sense 101.
/bump
any fencing gurus wanna post their stats so us new fencers can get an idea on what we should do
650/440/440/
650/440/440/
905/700/700
I buff myself, 0-4-4-0 doc, packs cost me 5k a stat, so 30k for 20-22 buffs.
As for that "food is cheaper" comment, your insane point blank=)
My recomendation, get yerself a nice suit of Ubese armor, 60-65% is the norm for kinetic damage (If you didnt know, 99% of meele damage is kinetic, which on a base health pool hit is 90% health, 5% mind, 5% action, reverses depending on the "hit" pool)
Styling unbuffed is absolutly suicide, I dropped a bleed (2 when I got it) unbuffed and that was it, combat vs combat from thereon.
Dont forget to use Intimidate, its usable, Warcry is not (high ham costs)
I asked about this the other day, specifically for a Rodian fencer.
I have my health and action at 800, the secondaries are like 400 or 450 for those two pools, and I maxed out all the mind stats (which isn't much for a rodian).
I believe my mind is like 1000 and the secondaries are like 550.
Sorry I can't be more specific I just don't feel like logging on right now. Anyway I haven't really tested it out for myself but another rodian fencer recommended it. We'll see I suppose.
However if you have easy access to doc buffs, I would just say screw it and move everything you can to mind and make the rest equal.
Master Doc here too.
Health and Action stats at minimum (400)
Focus 850
Mind 1000
Willpower 1100
Almost don't need Muon/Fishak to spam specials.
Well i found you need your mind secondary stats preety much maxed if you dont want to be burned out after one mob. So as a wookie i got rid of Health and Action secondary stats, Maxed focus and willpower then spent the rest of my point on ham bars so i have something like this ....
1000/650/550
1000/650/550
950/650/600
Think thats right not ingame so ill have to check and redo this post if im wrong. Reason for not having strength /action secondary stats is because they are healable by a stimpack and your back in the fight
always have a crate of muon gold too
