Thread: why are fencers so good at pvp?

im sort of newish to the game really and was wondering why fencers made such good pvp players? i know they have good defense, but what else makes em so good?

Cob is not bugged in any way, other than sometimes it doesn't work.


The truth that no one wants tosee is that fencers have such a low damage dealing class that if your opponent has stun armor and a stun psg, which most pvper's do, then you're screwed. They can laugh at your 500 dmg stun baton because it's not going to scratch your armor.


Fencer has the most defenses, which is why most people dabble in it or combine it with another class that can actually deal damage like rifleman. Fencers will destroy people with no armor on though, but when's the last time you saw someone pvp without armor?

What armor has stun defense? and whats PSG? (I dont usually pay attention to these little abreveations)

Just lucky:


1) Last summer they reduced all damage taken in PvP to 25%

2) Last fall they increasedthe defenses of melee professions to makethem more viable overall.

3) Defensive abilities overlap amongmany professionsso fencers are able totrain in other professions to"stack" their defenses.

4)This game allows crafters to experimenton their products, so their skill and the choices they make can influence the quality of the finished product. It's a cool system, but the armor and buffs available are now well beyond the ranges that were originally intended.

5) Most damage types are well protected by composite armor, butmost composite armor is weak or vulnerable aginst the stun damage type.

6) Fencers have always had a dizzy hit, which combined with a knockdown or a posture down, will cause the opponent to be knocked down for an extended period of time.

7) Fencers are able to blind and intimidate their opponents.

8) There is a fencer special attack that is said to be broken that bypasses certain defenses in other players.


As a result of these factors, some other professions are less likely to hit a fencer, and if they do, the damage is very minimal. So defenses, buffs, armor, and knockdown tactics allow fencers to avoid damage better than anyone else. And, with a stun baton, they are able to do more damage, and with their speed they hit more often.


So it's just a math problem:


The fencer takes less damage and deals more damage.

Most opponents take more damage and deal less damage.


Of theeight factors listed above, I bet only two or three were designed to directly benefit the fencer profession in PvP. The rest were indirectly related developments in the game that in some cases hadunintended benefitsfor the fencer profession.

Some composite armor and some padded armor has stun defense.


A PSG is a Personal Shield Generator. Armorsmiths make them. It works like armor, except you can wear one with or without armor. For most people, it is only used in special situations like PvP because they break down much faster than armor.

wearing stun armor/psg's in pvp is a lore more common (its even more likely to see someone with it then without it..)

every melee class has a dizzy+kd/pd, and most ranged classes do as well

7) Fencers are able to blind and intimidate their opponents.

so is (almost on the blind, initmidate is novice brawler) every other melee class

8) There is a fencer special attack that is said to be broken that bypasses certain defenses in other players.



its all about getting a good template that can use the best of both worlds.. (both = ranged and melee.. or defense and offense)

I agree. My point is that the Fencerprofession itselfis not designed to be the ultimate PvP class like many people believe--there are many other factors outside of the profession that work in favor of fencers, includingbuffs, armor, and the additional 158 skill points available after master fencer.

The Stun baton is the only weapon in the fencer tree.. thats not by accident

lol, stupid remark.. so you'r telling me tka is supposed to suck at pvp (dmg wise) because there only dmg type is kinetic, and everyone got it?


guy, as I said in my prev post, stun dmg means NOTHING in pvp these days.. everyone who wants to pvp for real has got 37-40stun armor and a 40-49 stun psg..
