Alright, for a master fencer, if both are damage sliced, which one would do better damage (also taking into account the Stun damage on the baton). I have one of each, but I'm unsure which one to use. Has anyone done any extensive testing between these two weapons?

depends on what you are fughting and the stats on the two weapons but on average a Gaffi does twice the damamge against a non Kinetic resist enemy (based on a comaprison of the two average made non acklay weapons). Cary both and keep an eye on what you are fighting, dont follow the PVE= Gaffi, PVP = Stun Baton, I have found several PVE situations where I used a Stun Baton.

Yes, carry both

Stun is normally reserved for PvP but there are plenty of mission level Mobs that have Vulnerability to Stun but kinetic resistance (/ex when targetted to see what hurts it the most)which makes it ideal. Also there are timesVibro Blade is uselful....Although these are normally only when you need to spread some butter on roll.

Both!!! Stun bat on people with armor most of the time.

Gaffi is by far the raw DPS weapon. Stun is maybe 1/3rd as powerful (without Acklay or other such).

So anytime kinetic damage will be reduced by at least 3 times as much as stun - use the baton. Otherwise use the stick.

Both, in PVE, I use them both about equally, just examine something before you fight it. Very little has protection against stun damage. Do this, see how much better Dam your Gad is then your Stun baton let's say it is 40% better. Let's assume equal speed.

So that means if something has 40% higher kinetic resistant then Stun, use your Stun Baton. If It's Kinetic is LESS then 40% higher then Stun, use your Gad.

A minute of math makes the decisions easy.

If we stick to the PvP situation:

If someone is wearing a 37% stun armor and a 48% psg, thats 85% stun resistance - and a decent acklay bone stun baton has 130 - 200 stun dmg.

Now on a 37% stun armor you can be sure that the kinetic resistance is max 80% (most of them are 65 - 75%) - and a decent gaffi stick has maybe 150 - 250 kinetic dmg which is higher than an acklay stun baton.

But of couse most people aint aware of using stun armor in pvp, so they just use a 80% kinetic armor (this will rarely happen if the player is an experienced pvp player).

Advice:

Start out with a stun baton, see how much dmg you get. If you get 100 dmg or more stick to the stun baton, if you get maybe50 - 100 try with a gaffi stick and check out what you get then. Some people might have a kinetic suit ready to wear right away - well, i do

, if they do just keep switching weapon, it is annoying as hell =)

I agree in PVP, you really need to watch how much you are hitting for. I switch between Stun and Gad depending on how much I am hitting for.

A good PVPer will switch armor as well, but then you have the chance of sneaking in a hit between armors. That will end the fight quick.

one thing to watch is that if someone has a psg it might have 48% to stun but it also has a vuln to kinetic. if the person knows this they will be switching between the PSG and no PSG repeatedly if you switch between a stun baton and a gaffi, and if you get them all confused with that it can be pretty funny. also whip outvibrobladefor a bit and scare them lol(the vibroblade is so noisy).

Always check the stats on what your fighting first, overall a stun baton will be more useful in more situations because most Entities have little or no stun resist, but when it comes to overall damage and HAM for that matter ive found that the gaffi kicks the crap out of a stun baton anyday. Speed doesnt matter if your master because basically your gonna cap with master fence so dont even worry about that, either weapon will be the same speed wise.

I use a 271 max damage acklay stun baton which is better than my gaffi (non acklay) so I find myself using that unless the mob hashigh resists to stun. If I were to have an acklay gaffi I'd prolly be a bit more **edit** on the resists of the mob but since my gaffi isn't I don't find myself caring too much.
