Im a master Fencer/ master pistoleer with novice medic and master brawler. I just mastered the fencer profession about 3 weeks ago and i love fencer :0 it just looks so cool while fighting. Anyway, lately ive been seeing sites and such since my template is done and i dont really have to grind anymore. I also am trying to start a collection on one handed weapons so i have a good bit of variaty to choose from when I pvp. Is it just me or are fencers horrible at getting any loot from the caves and poi's ive soloed all the way down to the ackaly chamber in the geo caves to try and get my self some decent bones for a new stun baton but everytime i get there a swordsman with 2handed speed skill tapes comes and out damages me. Ive been to various caves and such and it seems i never get any loot because theres always a swordsman with speed tapes there to come and swipe the kills from the spider clan auspex or spell weaver or whatever high level creature i had been happily soloing for the last 10 minutes. Why cant soe figure out a diiferent loot system than Dps it seems all the professions like pistoleer, fencer, pikeman, and carbiner have no chance of ever getting any kills due to these professional looter/ kill stealer templates. Is the onyl way for me to get decent loot in this game to drop my 2 beloved masters and do a Fotm swordsman with speed tapes template. SOE please help us low dps professions out we cant afford paying millions for decent weapons.

what they should do for looting and combat alike is follow the FF 11 system first person to attack a creature has rights to it no one else can attack it unless there in that persons group or the person asks for help. if they could do that to the combat system in this game it would make it alot better since you would no longer have ninja looters first one to attack the creature/ NPC gets it.

Well, all I can suggest is "get a group" and arrange beforehand how loot will be distributed. Preferably people you trust.

So basically you attack it once, peace out and come back later when the other heavy hitters do all the work for you? That sounds like a great idea.

did you only read the first line, it actually says only the first erson to attack or there group or anyone whos asked for help (ie consented) can atack it

I kinda like the idea me and my guild went looking for bones we worked out who got what and all the messy stuff but got out hit by a combat medic and 2 swordsman who come in after we have worked our way in there first

Does anyone know specifically how the dps for looting right works? I was under the impression that even if your grouped only individual dps counts and the groups dps dosent stack for looting rights. Several times ive been in a cave with a fiew friends and had a swordsman or rifleman out damage our entire group. If this is a case there is really no advantage to grouping because it dosent allow your group to get the looting rights if one of these looting templates show up. The other thing that really peev's me is waiting an hour for a night sister elder to respawn and the sam guy who killed it the last time rolls in and steals the kill because apparently there keeping track of the spawn times

This is because a speed capped rifleman or swordsman with a propeerly made Hammer or Tenloss can outdamage a group that does not include one. I myself have been able to outdamage groups at the Geo Lab when I was a speed capped rifleman and I would not even consider myself that "good" of a combat person. Since I have gone the way of fencer I have to rely on my firends to either help me or get me loot. As I rifleman I could essentially spam Strafe2 for 1500-3300 damage per second. Hard to match even for some groups.

although i can understand that, i never expect to solo a cave (or group solo - meaning just me and my group taking the cave with no outside help) althought it would be nice if people that see me fighting would WALK PAST and get their own mob. having some rifleman jump in and blast my kills then get loot rights..then having him run off to do the rest of the cave is annoying as hell.

I agree clorets. I am new to fencer still leveling, I am now just 0003, so as you can see I am very new to the profession. But I must say that fencer has been some of the most fun I have had. In Fort Tusken, the Geo Caves or anywhere else I may go to level and have fun quite oftn people will see me slowly damaging a mob so they kill it quickly and take the loot. I let it go by a couple of times but being that I have not yet given up rifleman I will usually get to a point where I switch out my Gaffi for a 498damage Tenloss and wait for them to start crying that I am loot stealing. At this point I tell them exactly what they told me which is usually "Well kill it faster". The problem with this is that I want to become a master brawler/master fencer and when that happens I just wont have the luxury of defending my kills so to speak. All of the special dungeons should be instanced for groups unless they are extremely difficult like the DeathWatch.

Ijust dont get why people cant just leave groups alone when me and my group go into a cave first thing we do is check is anyone else in there if they are we walk away and find something else whats the point in doing a half finished cave and griefing people, i just dont get it,

Um, think about that for a bit. Think outside the box. Would you really assist someone in this case by taking out the creature? I would assume the loot rights would have to reset on death. Knowing you do not have loot rights to start, move on to other things, or wait for said person to buy the farm. Other changes would have to be implemented to stop weak individuals from training super boss into other groups, then sitting back and collecting loot, but this can be easily over come. Then we would have to deal with Ninja sprinters running to the bosses! The first attack would take out the hurry, lets do maximum damage before others can, and allow players to utilize a variety of methods to take out a creature, withoput fear of ninja looters. Good idea me thinks.

Fencer is not meant for pve. No ap weapons = no dmg to high end mobs.

On a side note did a fencer just call a swordsman fotm?

since scatter2 got nerfed half jumped ship to swordman..though damn near every combat proff except carbineer has been called FOTM so its a silly concept
