what they should do for looting and combat alike is follow the FF 11 system first person to attack a creature has rights to it no one else can attack it unless there in that persons group or the person asks for help. if they could do that to the combat system in this game it would make it alot better since you would no longer have ninja looters first one to attack the creature/ NPC gets it.
So basically you attack it once, peace out and come back later when the other heavy hitters do all the work for you? That sounds like a great idea.
I kinda like the idea me and my guild went looking for bones we worked out who got what and all the messy stuff but got out hit by a combat medic and 2 swordsman who come in after we have worked our way in there first

Does anyone know specifically how the dps for looting right works? I was under the impression that even if your grouped only individual dps counts and the groups dps dosent stack for looting rights. Several times ive been in a cave with a fiew friends and had a swordsman or rifleman out damage our entire group. If this is a case there is really no advantage to grouping because it dosent allow your group to get the looting rights if one of these looting templates show up. The other thing that really peev's me is waiting an hour for a night sister elder to respawn and the sam guy who killed it the last time rolls in and steals the kill because apparently there keeping track of the spawn times
This is because a speed capped rifleman or swordsman with a propeerly made Hammer or Tenloss can outdamage a group that does not include one. I myself have been able to outdamage groups at the Geo Lab when I was a speed capped rifleman and I would not even consider myself that "good" of a combat person. Since I have gone the way of fencer I have to rely on my firends to either help me or get me loot. As I rifleman I could essentially spam Strafe2 for 1500-3300 damage per second. Hard to match even for some groups.

Um, think about that for a bit. Think outside the box. Would you really assist someone in this case by taking out the creature? I would assume the loot rights would have to reset on death. Knowing you do not have loot rights to start, move on to other things, or wait for said person to buy the farm. Other changes would have to be implemented to stop weak individuals from training super boss into other groups, then sitting back and collecting loot, but this can be easily over come. Then we would have to deal with Ninja sprinters running to the bosses! The first attack would take out the hurry, lets do maximum damage before others can, and allow players to utilize a variety of methods to take out a creature, withoput fear of ninja looters. Good idea me thinks.
