Thread: Which Skill Tree to give up?

So here's the scenario, I'm master Artisan and Master Architect. I'm on my way to Master Pistoleer. Now this hasnt happened yet, but lets say I get my Holocron, and one of the 3 I have is already correct (of coruse I dont now that yet) so which do I give up.


I can see it now, it tells me - Become a Master Dancer! So i give up Architect, and once I've got Master Dancer it comes back and says - Too become uber you must be a Master Architect...DOH!

Give up the one that you've maxxed out your XP on, but don't use those skills again. In this way you will retain that maxxed out xp and will be able to mosty retrain that profession very very quickly. Take a look at the skill trees and compare them to your maxxed out xp. You'll probably be suprised to see that your maxxed xp will get you most of the way up those skill trees.

I dunno, I'm kinda under the impression that they will not tell you to master a skill that you have previously mastered. But, who knows.

I think that your MAX xp will drop when you surrender skills, so you will lose whatever XP is over the current limit for your skill level.

Nope. You keep that XP. The only thing is, you CANNOT gain any more of that XP type. The second you do so, you lose a LOT of XP (the amount your left with is double the base training xp requirement).


So, if you give up pistoleer. Just take that pistol and put it in the bank so that you have NO chance of ever using it again, and hence, no chance of gaining any XP. Then, when it's time to train pistoleer again after you finally got your FSCS, you just go back and use those accumulated xp points.

That would suck so bad. I just became master weaponsmith tonight. I would break something if i surrendered it and then a holocron told me to get it again.

Hi. I am Master Fencer but have to give up one of the four trees in order to master combat medic for holo.


I was wondering which tree I could give up and still be effective against animal type mobs on dantooine missions.

Seriously, I would look towards Footwork. You keep the defence of both Stances & grips as well as the damage mittigation of Techniques. That and I think 1hd exp much easier to get than Combat exp when you want to get it back fast. Besides, you should have a decent amount of 1hd exp to use to get it back fairly fast.

Thanks for all the advice.


From the footwork I will miss the bleed and area spin attack. they come in handy


when fighting three 10K ham animals at the same time.

It's tough to get back, but I'd give up Finesse as well. It's the only tree, that's not really any use if you're not fighting as a fencer. If you're going to continue fighting as a fencer while you do CM, then it's a really tough choice, since all 4 trees have essential stat bonuses in them. How many extra skill points do you need to master CM? Are you trained in anything else (like Scout or Artisan) that you can give up instead of any of Fencer?

I am keeping nothing else. Combat medic takes 169 skill poins to master, therefore I have to give up


one complete tree from fencer, and yes I will come back to it as my main unless I have to do BH for the grind.

Hmm. Give up Stances. The loss of front-line defenses can be offset with a good set of armor. You'll still have your CoB and Dodge, too, so you shouldn't see much of a difference in damage done to you.
