Thread: Template advice for pvp, something just isnt working

Well here is my template as it sits now:


Master RIfleman

Master Fencer

Pistoleer 0-0-1-3

Novice Medic

and almost to novice TKA


My logic behind the template was rifleman for ranged, fencer for melee, and pistoleer for added stat defenses and a KD. I was working up the pistoleer tree and started going overt occasionally just for fun. Now most professions I have no problems with, but TKM's eat me alive.


Finding that out was a big surprise since everything that I had read suggested fencer>TKM in pvp. So I started rethinking my template, and decided to go 3-0-1-4 in TKA. Reason for that was the defensive accuity, boost, med, and KD. While I was working on unarmed I got bored and decided to go overt again and came across another TKM. While using a rifle I was eating him, he went through equalize, FoW (yeah I lagged for a sec and couldnt sniper shot him :/) and finally got close enough to KD/Dizzy me and ran off. Later he came back, and basically owned me, he landed a dizzy/KD early on and ate half my mind while I sat there contemplating the meaning of life on my back. I stood up and went to work with fencer, scatter2 does jack to his mind pool, so I start working his body, all the while my mind is dropping like a stone. I backed off and went to work with rifles again, and started owning him, unfortunately I had run out of canape and I basically incapped myself with my own rifle.


Anyways the long and short of it was, it was so easy for him to KD/Dizzy me that I started to rethink my going for TKA skills and sticking with pistoleer for the status defenses. Any advice from anyone who has a similar template?


FYI I was wearing full comp (60base31stun), an Imp PSG with 54% base, a Krayt Jawa (468 max dmg with P/U) and a Acklay stun baton (196-223 w/o PU).

Wear a 80% kenic hel, or kentic suit when u fight TKM's

I did slap on a 80% kinetic helm half way through the fight, but it didnt help all that much, in fact I think it contributed to my mind drain when I switched back to rifles since the helm is a beast on enc.

Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to add what I am really trying to do here is get advice on whether to go for TK skills for med/boost/defensive acuity/KD, or go for pistoleer to get the stat defenses/KD.

Try 0/0/4/0 pistoleer, the kd isnt worth it.....really, the defenses in the trickshot line far outweigh the melee def line.

I'm not a master rifleman but with Fencer I find I can dizzy/Kd a TKM no prob try doing that then switch to rifle to snipe his mind while he's on his back

Always wear comp armor in a duel use brandy and canape so it doesn't cost you anything to spam specials. Make sure intimidate is the first thing you do to anyone you duel and get a COB macro running. After I do the first two things I stated, I land every state I can on the person try to get the dizzy KD with dizzy and lunge 1 then I proceed to beat the snot out of them with my stun baton. If that doesn't seem to be working (maybe they have mastered TK and master swords and fencer and are near invulnerable in melee) I switch to jawa ion and run and spam mindshot 2. I usually always win unless they have a nasty dot weapon or one of those really nice geno blasters.

Unless they have the same teplate as me then it comes down to luck and whoever has the better equipment/dots.

Some of the pikeman have some really really hot lances so in that case your best bet is rifles mindshot and go for the kill quick before they dot you to death.

TK 4xxx is nice too for getting rid of those dots while your opponent lays at your feet...

If your already doing this then I dunno... maybe practice more.. I think the tk trees would benefit you more than the pistol IMHO.

Thank you all for your responses. I am still undecided as to which to go for with TK I would have better defenses/KD/meditate, but with pistoleer I would have beeter stat defenses/KD. It seems like the stat changes are kickin my arse faster than any lack of defenses, so I am leaning towards pistoleer skills, and keeping novice medic.

Forgot to mention I am pretty much full up on food I have to take canape to maintain my mind pool even with 2 shots of good brandy (Rifleman with +10 in speed tapes eats away your mind faster than any profession I have tried) to polish that off I normally take some synthsteak. I will try getting some stat defense food and see if that helps, synth doesnt last long when you are lying on your back getting pummeled.

What weapon did you have out. If you had the rifle you will take more damage. Also spamming /stand; /intimidate; seems to help even if you fall back down. Lower the attackers damage, it helps.

With your skill points completely maxed right now, you don't have enough left over to get even novice tka without dropping something. If you're going to do it, you can get 4300 tka if you drop all of your pistoleer. You'll be able to get powerboost and meditate which are very nice (and you'd have my exact template of Mstr rifles/Mstr Fencer/TKA 4300/Novice medic). This is heavy damage dealing with high defenses. If you keep the pistoleer, I'd suggest 0040 instead of 0013. You will max your defenses better and you are not keeping pistoleer for the damage or kd, but the defenses imo. You will have very good ranged damage and awesome defenses - better than mine.


Hehe, I'd actually like to set up a duel to see how we could do against each other. Regarding being beaten by a TKA, there must have been more going on - other skills etc that the TKA had. TKA damage is limited to kinetic and with your ability to deal massive damage with a rifle, I'd call it more of a fluke than the norm. Even just straight fencer vs tka should win because of the damage types. Heck, try this out: let a tka dizzy/kd you and then whail away at your for awhile while they're on the ground (requires buffs and kinetic comp). They'll drain their own mind more than your health. Then you get up after 3 mins and scatter shot them 3 or 4 times and say "bye".


Problem is there are so many like myself that are able to get meditate and powerboost benefits of tka without having to master - that's where tka really comes in handy right now imo.

Yeah, tk is all but useless in PvP unless your just using it to slap down a KD, then, well yep, your a fotm and thats that.



Pistolierre knockdown sucks period end.


Your 6000x better off getting the technique tree, and getting 90 def vs dizzy/kd (I think you'd have 90, 80 in both atleast) Having more then 90 is a waste of time, there is a 90% cap on everything.



That means nobody is 'unkd-able' there is always a 10% chance, I am called a 'cheater' for kding people on 97% food ALL the time, they belive that they have something like 150% chance vs kd or whatever their profession+ food is, that isnt the case.
