I choose Rodian as my race for the action bonus and 1 handed weapon accuracy bonus. Human would be my 2nd choice. Some people like wookie because of their huge stat bonuses and most melee people don't wear armor so no big loss there.

As far as a combining skill, mastering brawler along with Fencer will help. Or you can pick up some ranged abilities to compensate for things running away or for drawing things in close. I choose to avoid any ranged ability. Just my preference and play style.

I'm having fun as a Creature Handler/Fencer/Medic combo. The pets take all the hits for me to make up for my inherent lack of defenses. If I weren't a CH I'd probably pick up some of the TKA's defensive skills in a better effort to be a stand-alone meleer.

If PvP is your thing, most people seem to pick up pistol or carbine as a range skill. However, if I had the skill points to spare, I'd become a Riflemen and go for some one-hit mind-pool incaps. Then you would be a serious threat both close-in and far away.

Regardless of what you choose, I would include a healthy dose of Medic to minimize downtime.

Best race would probably be Wookiee or Trandoshan.

I'm going Master Fencer, little medic, little CH and little Carbineer.

With my final template, I can haveonly like 2 or 3 skills of CH so hopefully I can get a decent level pet for a meatshield and I'm also getting a few skills of Carbineer for thelittle extra defense to postures/blind/KD.

I was also going for a bit of rifle man but I noticed that alot of thier attacks were mind based - none of our Fencing specials attack the mind pool so I figured I might as well chop a bit off with my carbine (health/action) then go in with my blade.

Cheers

I don't know the CL on them, but if you want a decent, lower end Tank creature, try a Leviasquall from Rori,,,I used one when I started as a CH a while back (because I decided not to just have someone give me a gurreck) 4500 HAM, and all their attacks are stun, so they don't seem to take much damage..could be the stun or just good resists...I hunted Fambaa's with one and only pistol 3 in marksman.

Anyhow, I don't know what I am doing post-patch, but I was doing Ranger/Fencer...The Ranger Traps can make a huge difference against creatures, where we are at a disadvantage....the combat defense and the melee defense traps stack, so you can get big hits on most creatures...not sue if we stand a chance since the patch though, I haven't hunted much....

Btw, I am Zabrak for the willpower and equilibrium and both have saved me many times...If your mind is getting hit, I use a stim and then quickly use equilibrium which brings my mind almost all the way up, then another stim....I end up with full action and health and only a small hit to mind, this seems like the only way to really heal your mind in battle...

I'm a Fencer/Ranger myself, with a little artisan for surveying and such. It works well. Though only 1-1-1-1 for Fencing so far, I can kill quite a lot of creatures for scouting XP, and also have /maskscent and /conceal if things look grim and some aggros are around. You can also track down easier creatures for quick, but little, XP as well, so the two skills seem to compliment each other very well.

Don't doubt the power of having some Marksmen skills to back you up. At one point, I was almost to Rifleman before I dropped it in favor of pounding up the one-hand tree faster. It made group-hunting much easier than having to run up to stuff to fight it, especially in places like the narglatch cave on Naboo. Would also be useful in PvP.

actually, i am Master CH, Master Pistoler, and i go to surrender CH and get master Fencer.

Why use points in CH when for pvp the best pet is a AT-ST?.

I think than fencer is mounch better than CH.

My race is botham.

Uhhhhh Levisquall are CL 19 and have a HAM closer to 2250 unless I have missed some change.

I stand corrected, someone pointed out to me that some indeed do have HAMs that high, sorry.

I would be sure to get Scout and Explore III for the terrain movement bonus. I also have Medic with Organic Chemistry II for the woundpacks and stim Bs. If I had not wasted the skill points on mastering dance I would probably have added CH. The only problem is that they seem to have done something to pets to make it harder for them to hold aggro on adds. I think that diminishes the value of CH considerably.
