I would say that the rantok is a "don't use" at the moment. If master weaponsmiths could ever make them, my guess is that they would be very good based on comparing the rantok to generic versions of the other weapons. The armor piercing abiility and low HAM cost of the vibroblade make it my default weapon to start most fights since I can get 3-4 specials off with relatively less HAM drain even thought the damage is not that great. I have one sliced for speed and one for damage. I usually use a curved sword otherwise (for example for berserks).

For me , Rantok are useless. The damageis 50-150 speed 3.0. You can havea MUCH better Curved sword or Ryyk Blade. Me, iam using a curved sword 187-213 2.3 speed. So, there is nopoint in using a rantok for all the trouble it is to get one. If master weaponsmith were able to craft them it would be another story but it is not the case so, i would say, get yourself a good Curved or a good Ryyk.

Whew, was reading the replies one at a time. Sarryon was beginning to frighten me with those numbers.

Myself, I use mostly the vibroblade for styles and ap, and the curved sword for non-styles combat. I have 2 curved swords.. 90-200 and 91-203, both spd 2.6, damage sliced. And then I have 2 vibroblades, spd 2.2 on both, but I can't recall the top end numbers(I'm at work). Seem to be right around 55-169 and 57-179? Both also damage sliced. I'll have to check on those.

At either rate, I'd rather use the Vibro and the Curved over Rantoks and Ryyks.. Personal preference and performance, mostly.

I use a 141-259 3.5 Gaffi. with Master Fencer I hit even specials at 1 second. HAM isn't that bad at 56/33/15. For PvP I still use my Vibro 55-183 2.6 14/26/14. Both are damage slices. These are about the best you can get on Valcyn atm. Got mine from Art' Vanderlay

The new cores for the stun and gaffi's make them superior to the curved sword. Vibro still has its uses but most of the armored enemies i encounter are vulnerable to stun anyway. I wish they would come out with something like a foil or short sword with simular stats as the stun baton.

I use Curved Sword until they make stun batons worth buying, 93-212 damage 2.3 speed.

I'm on Radiant, and i use a 70-170 (or something like that, I'll check later) 2.5, unsliced

Pretty good..i always buy my swords from a weaponsmith named Origins, default is 70-160 2.3 speed for 5k credits.

well a 93-212 damage 2.3 curved dosnt compare to a 141-259 3.5 Gaffi like the one that was posted. No where even close. Your curved would be calling that gaffi "daddy" all night long. Not trying to be rude or anything so don't take offense plz. Dont forget that speed on fencing weapons do not apply to our dps in any way, so we basically go by the min/max damage medium for our best weapons. Even Vibroblades take a back seat compared to gaffi's because they have such a low min damage compared to gaffi's. Take an above average VB like the one posted (Vibro 55-183 2.6 ). the average damage on that is 119, but wait we still got the ar1 to add so *25%= 148.75. Now the gaffi is ar0 so its damage comes to an average of 200. how convieniant 51 more damage per hit against an ar0 opponent. Now lets say we run into an ar1 opponent. The vibroblade will do an average of 119. The gaffi take a big -50% hit, ouch. But thats STILL 100 damage per hit . 19 less then the vibroblade. not that significant. Most ar1 opponents are vulnerable to stun though so lets have fun with the stun baton (seached for one of the new ones)

Now that puppy has a mean damage of 107.5. Sliced at 30% damage its 139.75. I am guessing that the curved used to compare in this equation is sliced as well. If used against any ar1,2,3 or even 100 with vulnerability to stun, the baton will do 139.75 average everytime. So its either the Gaffi or the baton as the best choice fencer weapon now.

Cons for Gaffi= high health and action HAM cost, but its Mind ham cost is as low as the VB. maybe lower.

Cons on the stun= High mind ham cost. Thats a biggie to me but its worth it.

I managed to pick up a sliced Gaffi Stick a couple nights ago (on Sunrunner at WyldFyre weapons on Tatooine):

171-290 dmg - Whoa!

3.6 spd - Slow...but with fencer speed bonuses not an issue.

60/37/19 ham - The health cost is unfortunate...but I don't use it to spam specials anyway...switch to the vibro for that. Buffs also solve that particular problem.

Sooo...when did Gaffi sticks become so beastly? Latest patch? Is it caused by the new re-enforced cores?

I really enjoy my cudgeling stick...just wish it was a sword of some sort...being a fencer and all.
