of .5 sec! Is there anything in the works like that for us?

I would certainly hope that fencers, being the "pistoleers of melee" would have the same speed cap as whatever pistoleers have.

Personally, I think .5 seconds is too fast though. I actually think 1 second is a little too fast.

Rumors abound from those critters! If anything like that were proposed by the devs and posted to us on the correspondent thread to discuss before it went into code for the next TC patch, the correspondents would not be permitted to post anything about it. The devs talk about a great many "proposed this or that" so we can work out as many potential problems as we can before it ever makes it to code.

The devs do not want these preliminary propositions to leak out because it tends to get players' expectations up, and then if the ideas get shot down for whatever reason before making it to code those players become quite upset by it. First the posts are like "I thought I heard we might getting AbilityX? I wonder what happened to that?" Then it's repeated by someone else as "I read somewhere we were supposed to get AbilityX, but the devs desided not to follow through with it." Finally, someone posts, "Yeah, we were promised AbilityX, but the devs can't keep their word and shafted us!"

Therefore, as much as I might be bursting to tell you guys some juicy tidbit that could delight you, I am bound not to spill the beans pre-maturely. Everything the devs state has a little red clause at the end stating something to the effect of "Unless specifically aurthorized, the contents of this post is not to be distributed outside of this forum." Therefore we are constantly posting, "Oh wow, that's awesome! My professionX would love to know that we might be getting this. Can I tell them anything at all about it?" And we get a "yes", "no", or no answer. No answer is an understood "no... and I can't believe you asked." If we get a "no", we generally follow it up with a "Can I hint about it?", or "Can I phrase it this way...blah blahuber blah". Sometimes they will authorize things like that.

I guarantee you that the instant I get authorization to share info of any kind, in any amount, and any form, then I will have posted here in black and white (or whatever color I fancy at the time ) within the hour. If I haven't posted it here, then it's just rumor... or at least it's supposed to be.

I'll say this... generally... by my perceptions... Fencers and Pistoleers seem to be melee/ranged reflections of each other in the matter of speed related issues. What fixes are applied to one will most likely follow suit with the other. That doesn't mean I am saying Fencer or Pistoleers are going to get 0.5... I'm saying that IF either get it, then it probable the other will , too. Again, this is my belief based on observations, but not the dev's statements or promises. (This way I can keep my word to you while keeping my word to the dev's at the same time.)

Perhaps there could be a sticky post right before a patch that only contains some "random" number between 1 and 10... Call it number of the day, it can be like Sesame Street.

we've already got Snuffy (Banthas) and Oscar (Jawa). i'm sure there are some unusually hairy siamese Zabrak twins somewhere that read everything phon-et-ic-ally.

i just want to see the emperor "doing the pigeon" and Vader with that hissing laugh of Ernie's. now THAT'll make ya pee a little.

Actually the "little birdy" in this case, was the combat developer, in a letter reposted by holocron, a while back.

"My proposal is that we implement a variable speed cap based off of the weapon. So pistoleers and 1hswords would use a .5 second speed cap, while riflemen/pikemen would have a 3 second minimum speed."

That thread has been around for quite some time. I was aware of it right when it was posted, so I thought Kali would be, too. I wasn't thinking that was the "little bird" she was referring to, but rather someone trying to "leak" information about real dev plans. If that old think was what she was referring to (possible, I guess) then I'd be surprized.

Believe it or not... I'm kept fairly well informed.

hehehehe yes, it was someone whoappeared to be 'leaking' something. Perhaps, they themselves, simply read it in the referenced post.

Ok will probly get flamed for this but anyway giving fencers a 0.5 sec speed cap ontop of the gaint defence mods you get next patch would be crazy hehe
