Thread: What armor do you use?
I'm currently a 3-2-2-2 Fencer on Intrepid. I was curious to see what types of armor (if any) all of you use. Currently I only wear an advanced chitin breast plate, leggings, and boots. If I wear any more than that it completely robs me of my secondary stats and I feel like I don't fight nearly as well. Has anyone else had this same experience.
Should fencers even be wearing armor? My friend keeps trying to convince me to wear a full suit, but I think I'd be pretty much worthless with all those HAM costs added up. Is it just in my head, or does more armor affect the way we fight?
From a theoretical standpoint it seems to me that Fencers should not be wearing any armor. We are supposed to be the epitome of grace and finesse. Clunking around in a heavy suit of armor just doesn't seem to fit that mold.
Any advice on what armor (if at all) to use would be appreciated from the more experienced fencers out there.

At first, to preserve my image, I only wore cloth. I died often.
For the past few weeks, I've been wearing a set of 38% or so ubese -- normally, just gloves, bracers, shirt, and boots, with a pair of cloth pants. I die much less often to health and action damage. I can spam specials all day long, and when I get in trouble, I have the jacket, pants, and helm hotkeyed, and use specials ocassionally. I still die to mind, but that's not my armor's problem.
This weekend, I tried using a full set of 63% chitin. While I can live forever in it, I still feel clunky and ugly. I'm also not sure the protection makes up for the damage lost by not spamming specials.
In general, you're okay wearing a pair of gloves, bracers, and boots of just about anything with good resistance versus kinetic, and they'll definitely help. They also won't make you ugly, like I am in my chitin.

well i use no armor and do very well .. but soon youll see why (my sig) but even still i have seen many melee die in combat caue of wearing armor and not spamming specials. While this works for some cause they use a vibroblade i use a adv Ganderffi ( 126-221 at 2.7 spd or 170-286 at 3.5 spd) and tus I would lose over half my dmg dealt by wearing amo and going back to a vibroblade. i just recently picked up a stock pile of like 12 MK1's for 4k on my server and even though the general resist sucks on them it stil protects me from about 50% of dmg being done to me. Wit tat said once i am master doc ill be wearing a ful suit of te best kinetic and energy resist armor i can get my hands on.

I don't wear any armor, but I, too, always carry a personal shield generator. I alsowork really hard on controlling my aggro.
So far I've been doing good, but part of it is because my husband is a pretty good medic. =)

I usually go on endor and have a full suit of composite, equip all of it except for the bracers and shoulders, I regularly drink tatooine sunburn and pop vergesprine, and without composite armor, I would be screwed
I use a chiton helm, chestplate and gloves, and Mabari boots. I hotkey them because they mess up my outfit
When I can make my own PSG's (to save on cash) I am going to see if using a PSG alone is reasonable.
Much like SynneA and others, I avoid armour when I can purely based on looks, but I have realized that no armour in combat gets you killed fast.

What's the story with Tattooine sunburn? I heard it doesn't have a downer like other spices?
Tatooine Sunburns are not spice, but a drink crafted by Chefs who has Mixing II. I do not remember the exact boost, but it's definately better than spice due to no downer.
On the armor issue, I have never used armor. I am thinking getting some ubese with high kinetic resist for PvE but I doubt I will ever use armor in PvP.
