Ifind Composite Armor is better then Ubese because it lasts longer and because of better resists. You only really need four pieces of the Comp. Armor to be effective anyways so thats alot of encumberance lost. The only pieces you need is the Gloves, Boots, Chest Plate and Helmet; with those on I never get any attacks go past my armor.

For PvP or PvE?

For PvP - composite is definitely a must.

For PvE - I prefer composite, because it's easy to get a set of 80% kinetic 55%ish base (low-HAM) that, when sliced, actually has lower HAM than most Ubese Sets (since slicing Ubese Armor = very very fast decay, and hence NOT recommended).

That, and the fact that Ubese generally only goes up to 70-73% on our server, while composite will get you 80%, and generally 50% and upwards to all other forms of damage, except stun.

Only use Ubese if you're on a budget and can't be bothered to get your composite armor sliced. Still, Composite is the best, in any given situation.

Whether is needed at all or not depends on your Fencer skills and what you're hunting. Against most creatures, your CoB macro with buffs will be enough to keep your HAM bars full to the max, so there's no use in equipping composite at all (though a chestplate, leggings and boots never hurt.. helmet if you have mind to spare).

Can we get a consensus on which comp armor pieces are needed, for those not on a monetary budget, but a HAM budget?

Gloves, Boots, Chest, Helmet is what I've come up with so far...is this all I ever have to worry about?

For most cases, i never need my comp armor. But normally when im fighting and i see signs of gettin hit too often, ill put on my helmet just to protect my mind. Ive found that no matter what, my mind is first to go in any fight, and i difinately need a helmet if im going to in combat for anything over5 mins.

When it comes to even stronger guys, i put on the full suit. (except for gloves and boots since im trando) this is because even with cob they have better accuracy and hit harder and more often.

I would say get composite, but the exact pieces i can't help ya with, since its different from player to player

Get Composite, then use Barndy and Canapes. Musician buffs are very helpfull as well. Also your stats should be migrated towards your mind.

I always wear composite, and unless I am hit in my Head, my mind bar never moves.

my comp gloves are in almost perfect condition while my other pieces are down to 15k or below condition( some after many repairs like my chestplate now has a max of 5k ) so i woudlnt say you need gloves. i would think the pants are needed more.

Simply put..if you're not wearing full composite with around a 70-80% base and a stun layer accompanied by a set of buffs, you will lose 100% of the time. Unless you're a combat medic.

Edit: Well, not for PvE. You can get away with 70ish% kinetic ubese in PvE.

Thats because Sony made the MIND pool a vulnerable target and the key to PvP. When was the last time you died to a HEALTH poison? *See combat revamp

For PvP - composite is definitely a must. Totally agree,...and its sad that there's only one armor type worthy of PvP *see combat revamp

For PvE - I prefer composite, because it's easy to get a set of 80% kinetic 55%ish base (low-HAM) that, when sliced, actually has lower HAM than most Ubese Sets (since slicing Ubese Armor = very very fast decay, and hence NOT recommended). False. Ubese covers your chest and you biceps while you need biceps with composite seperate. The biceps take HEALTH damage when attacked but luckily your chest takes the most damage in PvE. In PvP you can get away with no biceps though as no special attack will hit you there. The decay rate on Ubese is also not that bad although still below composite. Most of the time you can blame the armorsmith or poor quality resource spawns for the high decay.

If this is for PvE grinding then armor isn't that much ofa concern and ubese is you best bet. Overpowered doctor buffs will keep you alive while you're grinding.

p.s.- Not all players are humans who get the ability to max their MIND stats to 1100. If you are an alien you'll have to carry brandy, muon, and especially Ahrissa. Ahrissa is usually cheap, has low stomach filling, doesn't need to be BE enhanced to do well, and raises your Focus. Focus is what determines how much of your MIND you use each time you use a special. Save the muon as a last ditch thing always.

as ar as PvP goes.....COmp. armor is a must....all pieces.

as far as PvE goes. I have gone through the entire Geno Caves using every armor piece except the helmet. Helmets are not needed. Without them your mind regens faster...plus i never really get hit in the head by anything.

Pistoleers and Fencerswill hit your arms so if you dont have armor on your arms you will take heavy damage.

Swordsman and Rifleman will hit your head (helment needed)

Carbineers and Pikeman will hit your Leggs and feet (boots and leggins needed)

if your doing PVP i would never go out without a full suit of armor on.

Every npc/creature has the same chance to hit you on the head as a regular player. Some dont hit that hard so you wont notice it when hopped up on brandy. Upper teir npc/creatures DO hit hard especially Janta/Mokks and Pickets just to name a few. Factional npc riflemen WILL use headshot3 on you from time to time althought they rotate through most specials. Just keep you focus as close or past 1500 and you wont have to worry about eating up your MIND that much and everything will go to regeneration.

You got lucky in the geo caves. Even with armor a head hit from an enhanced kwi can hurt...alot.

I'm seeing alot of upper teir PvP'ers going without certain armor parts more and more. Does anyone else do this?
