I think they should just make our fighting stance more fencer like, u know, with the sword in the forward hand. That would be kewl. And give us a fencing sabre or sumthing

fencers usaly fight using 1 hand and the other in the air for balance. fencing is 1 handed combat so realy little if no use of the second hand. it used as balance so thye can move mroe fenesfully

Fencing = 1 handed sword fighting. That includes european, arabic, japanese, chinese, south american, african, roman, greek, etc etc. The time periods spam from -2000 B.C. to present day and not all countries used shields with their swords or had purple frilly collars.

There are plenty of styles out there with different variation on foot placement, sword placement, and attacks. The modern day car antennae wire weenies are just one more version (albiet strictly sport).

As too our predicament as SWG fencers....we got PLENTY of defense. We are lacking in OFFENSE.

Youguys have even said it, fencing is a sport. You won't see guys dressed up in fencing padding, with basket head-gear, going to the tuskan fort to kick a--. It refers to the sword in one hand as opposed to using 2 hands. We do however need more types of weapons before we get flash like shields. BLADES would be nice, I'm really sick of using cubs, why not just give us a blackjack and put us under the smuggler profession. We need swords!!!!!

However it has been suggested to give us duel weilding, I won't complain if this happens, as long as its BLADES we get to use, not stupid clubs.

Oh, and some ap would be nice, or a different type of dmg, I'm sick of seeing critters that are high resist to stun and kinetic, and saying "alright guys I'll be back here, call me when you're done."

master marksman/master scout/master bh/master commando/master medic/master fencer/master doctor/master tk/going smuggler now. We are OI, we are that group of misfits who may ruin your day, or may make you double over with laughter after you beat us down, either way we have a good time.

fencing is fencing, as in the olympic sport and has been for a VERY long time..

the kind of fighting you refer to, with swords and shields, has been called swordplay.

especially duelling with one handed swords as chosen weapons was done like the modern day sport is.

Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The devs didnt use the name fencer as a reference to the our world fencers, they used it description for all one handed weapons. Proberly because OneHander sounds stupied.

Actually, fencers (I mean the European ones) did use shields at one point. Im not entirely sure, but I believe it was circa 1600-1700. Small shields though. (bucklers were a relatively common type and were called as such because they were "buckled" to the Fencers arm.) They would occasionally use two weapons. (the rapier/sword in their dominant hand, along with a parrying dagger in the other)

Now, most of my information is derived from history channel and video games, so theres a decent chance that I have no clue what im talking about

Now, enough rambling. I honestly think the original posters idea is OK. However, there are more pressing issues than window dressing. It would however, be nice to have a choice between one handed, (balance.) Shields (defense oriented, less speed or accuracy.) and dual wielding (more damage, less acuracy.).

In general however, getting us more swords to replace our ugly (and somewhat worthless) clubs and batons, takes precidence over these little ideas.

Might be a good thing to add to the long-awaited Combat Revamp.

I can dream cant I?

Shields were used by fencers in europe in the 14th/15th century and they also would use a cloak to tangle the rapier or a leather glove to grab it. But I think of fencers as using two swords, a big sword in thereright hand and a small in the left, this sort of fighting was common in Japan and the renaissance when two guys got angry at each other. They just used different kinds of swords. I think the Chinesse also had a small strait blade and people would just constanly dodge and move. Kinda like that Hero movie. If they gave us a blade like those i would be happy.
