Not a Fencer here, but I would also like to contribute my template for other melee profs.

Yes but nice templates, but my question is, do the incorporate with each other? What i mean is I am TKA, if I go up the skill tree for fencer or swordsman and do not have there weapon equipped in combat, do the defence mods still work? I have heard both no and yes. Since it seems you all have tested it does it work?

Im not talking about attack bonuses. We are talking defence here and ALL the defencive mods stack.
Im hom now so the build I recomended gets these defencive bonuses.

Swords 0-0-4-0
Pike 0-0-4-0
Medic 2-1-0-0
Dodge - +90
Counter Attack - +75
Block - +85
Melee Defence - its taken to long to add up
range Defence - its taken to long to add up
All these mods stack.
The only defencive mods that dont stack are the COB mods.
Those are weapon specific.

Devs if you read this can we get a clear answer?
I would like to know before I spend some time building a template, when I could being adding to something else that works.
What I am pretty positive that does work is the melee and ranged defensive bonuses to all classes

Sorry about trolling on your board but I am sure that everyone agrees we would like a clear and correct answer from Devs.
It's been conclusively proven about 5 times now. +defense and +Defense against state DO stack. Dodge etc ONLY work when holding a weapon of that profession. No need for Dev answer, let them spend time on better stuff.

Yes and its RIDICULOUS.
I feel like this is the way for the hardcore PVP community.
I posted a much more detailed version of this in the TKA board a month ago.

This is my first post here so bare with me.
First off im a master smuggler grinding the TKA profession.
For awhile now Ive been dabling in PVP. Even though my char is far from TK mastery (2-1-3-2), i've been taking out IMP after IMP. Even when I do get bested by a better player, I get messages of "omg, you rule for melee".
I believe I can be uber. (shadowkb status)
I have been having so much fun playing TKA now. Even the grinding is fun because everyday I learn more about my character. We have so many tricks and so many mods that once the mods actually work. Id be pretty kick ass.
Ive been playing with new build ideas for quite some time. Im really curious what the group thinks as a whole.
So heres my build.

Medic 2-1-0-0 (medicinal reasons)

If you plug these items in the character builder, you will see some incredible numbers.

Those are the important ones.
Also I get gems like unarmed lounge 2 this makes someone stop and change position at 20m.
Imtimidate 2 does 20 sec delay on ALL. Ive used Imtimidate1 on creeps after KD1 and they stay on there back for 10sec allowin me to do double dam. With unarmed hit2 I hit for 2000 on a kd'd creep.
Thats my long road to melee ownage.
Im not even sad to say goodbye to smuggler. (I will definately miss feign death for it is the best skill in the game) I look forward to be writtin in the history books as one of the best melee players on our server.

So much has changed since that post.
OUR MODS ACTUALLY WORK (who knew)
We also got Mounts. (This means no more scout explor 3) Thats like 20 something skill points.
My new build sorry guys im a TKA at heart.

Swords 0-0-4-0 (around 85+ to counter)
Pike 0-0-4-0 (around 85+ to block)
This leaves just enough points for
Medic 2-1-0-0
Now the defensive mods you would get off this are incredible. I wish I could add them but im at work and I know Im not even gonna do it at home when I can be leveling my fencer.
I cant think of anoth build that can touch this. Im sure there is, im just very happy with the one I came up with.
I hope everyone on this board uses pieces of it to build there Ultimate fencer with.

I want you all to die violently slowly and painfully. Somehow.
Only one Brawler elite should be possible.. You abuse the system because you lack the imagination to want to do anything else with your 250 skillpoints. I'm mastering brawler to become a kind of 'dojo master', and aiming for blademaster... Hopefully I'll find a way to compromise and still be a medic/engineer/hunter/explorer, but i seriously doubt it.
