Center of being basically allows you to dodge bullets like Agent Smith from the Matrix. With it on I can beat any Master Rifleman or any ranged class as long as they are not using poison. With Center on I can do this after the defense stacking nerf:

I've been trying to find a good COB macro. It seems that you have one (based on your combat spam), and was wondering if you'd share. (I have one, but I'm not sure it works the way I want it to after the patch).
does CoB only apply when you're holding the melee weapon? in other words, i know you get counterattack stacked to +125 from swordsman + carbineer. but, if you started COB with a sword, and then equipped your carbine to attack, do you automatically lose COB?
My center of being duration number is 36. The name of the macro is center. Occasionally the macro will break for no reason, so you must use the /dump commandand thenrestart it. I allow 1 second more on the pause so it breaks less frequently due to lag.

You lose the bonuses to COB right when you equip a Carbine. However, you do not have to restart COB when you switch back to the sword. COB for a weapon lasts as long the duration number in your skill mod window says it will.
