Thread: Mistakes!
What really bugs me is that they didnt seem to put a whole lot of effor into our technique.
Let me explain,
What kind of swordsman leads with his hand that ISNT holding a sword? Really, if you dont have a shield, you arent going to use that hand!
Secondly, I am only a novice, but why do we have attacks that involve kicking? Hand work okay, maybe a hit with the butt or a shoulder charge, but a roundhouse?
I dont know what you guys are talking about, but any fencer, swordsman, even a night, or a roman gladiator, does not fight anything like how you made this.
We resemble.. especially due to the fricking butter knife of death, a gangster youd meet in the ally, whos calling you on with one hand and stabbing you once every 2 seconds with a knife of armour piercing level 1.
I dont mind being the weakest person out there, as long as I can do my part, and I dont look like an ass..
I really have faith in this profession, and I hope someone does something about this. We need improvement.
Funny,
I Mastered Brawler twice- once, early, when you could use VKs as a brawler, (then untrained it once I decided on Fencer) and recently again, without VKs, when I re-Mastered Brawler.
It wasn't that hard to level UA without VKs. It wasn't as pathetically easy as it had been before, but it wasn't that difficult. This class SHOULD be the hardest to level, as it is, as it stands now, the most powerful of the melee.
It's disconcertng to me that at the level of a novice TKA I was doing as much (and more) damage as a Novice Fencer (before Flurry got the improved Gad sticks.)
Seena, not picking on TKA (I'm picking up several skill boxes in the profession), but I don't think they need more weapons, (they are unarmed - as in- without weapons), or much more tweaking....

Actually, this is done all the time with rapier. Despite popular misconception, 'Fencing' ( a stylized 'sport'), in which thearm isheld arched, behind the back, at all times, -simply isn't effective in real combat Nor is fighting with the torso twisted at an angle as is done in competitive Fencing. This is done because only the torso is a valid target.
I suggest you rent a copy of the Three and Four Musketeers - with Oliver Reed. This film was one of the most historically correct in terms of it's swordplay.
Seena who studied 17th century rapier for years......
lol well basically, it *is* streetfighting. No rules - the guy left standing, makes the rules.
I used to love to duel Fencers - they'd get so pissed, "But, you can't DO that!!!!!" -
Yeah,
They should have called something else other than swordsmen. I mean most of the time, I look like amarine with a scary looking "combat knife." Sometimes, I don't look like anything with our "water-pipe-with-pointy-ends."
I feel like a fighter of exotic weapons ...
Qui'lu of Chilastra
P.S. Gaderiffi Baton isn't a sword, but that's my secondary now. *Shrug* can't have everything.
Asian sword play forms are referred too as fencing also depending on the documentation and translation. Fencing is just commonly assumed to be European. In the context of this game, I do not think it is. All of the melee classes are some sort of martial form of combat in this game.
Apart from all other complaints, remember ONE thing. While we are people who hit things with a stick ofsome kind which is held in one hand, and use all parts of out body to fight... we have stupid weapons, lots of bugs, and everything that we have ever complained about....
Some of our attack animations do, atleast, look cool ![]()
They have put alot of work into the animations in this game, I'd be happier if bowing didn't decapitate me or if I couldn't want through my own funiture, but atleast many of the animations are excellent. Imagine how bad it would be if they were like... well look at the running animation in call of duty ;D
Um, you know that you can use VKs even if you aren't certified for them, right? It makes the grind up to TK Novice go a lot faster.

you guys are hallarious.
And yes, some animations are very cool.. wish they didnt grind down my stats so much.. oh well, thats what chef's are for.
I didn't find it to be "a grind" - and it seemed, with the VKs equipped, than I was doing *less* damage than when they were unequipped.
Heheheh moot point now - I"m past that hurdle anyway : )
