I have a question about gaining music experience. Is there any fast way to gain experience. When i first started playing i assumed that I would gain more experience for healing other people but I don't. Is the fastest way to gain musician experience just to spam flourishes?

That's the only way I know of to gain the xp, I macro in all the flourishes, after it runs I just repeat it. Hitting one key every 90 seconds or so is much better for me than whacking keys every 15 seconds or less. I wish the gig missions gave you musician xp for completeing them, kind of like destroying the lair on a kill mission, xp for the critters and xp for the completion of the objective (although you'd get xp for destroying it even if it weren't the objective :/).

Two flourshes ever 10 seconds is what I think does best. Please pick two that make a little sense together!

This system of exp gain bothers me. It causes people to just flourish over and over again. When playing in a band everyone just does random flourishes and it sounds like crap. I could also gain music exp just as fast playing in the middle of a desert as I could in a cantina.

You will only gain that XP in the desert if the group of 15 entertainers follows you out there. No, the opportunity for XP is MUCH higher in the cantina.

I've never noticed my xp going up based on numbers of the group, Ent Healing xp yes, but not musicican xp. If I do two flourishes between xp ticks I get 10 on the first one, and 8 or 9 on the second one. That's a dayam slow way to level that music skill. If I macro ina flourish every 15 seconds I only get 1, 2 or maybe 5 xp per flourish. There must be some kind of xp cap per regular xp tick for Musician xp. Even if there was a way to gind xp based on the song, e.g. flourish on every purple note that comes up on the animation, or on every other red note, etc... it'd be better than picking away at the skill by 5 and 10 points at a whack, I mean SOMETHING'S out of kilter here when I've got over 54,000xp in Ent healing, and am struggling to just now break the 6,000xp mark in Musician xp

I think that the experience gain model is the same for both dancers and musicians (I only have music 2 so haven't spent much time on that end). But for dancers there is definatly an experience bonus per active group member I assume the same for musicians based on group comments. When I was grinding thru the tech line to master using my best dance (exotic) I would get 54 xp per tick solo approx 70 exp per tick in small groups and as much as 110 exp per tick in large groups.

In the novice tree ent healing goes much faster than music/dance experience almost all entertainers that I know were capped or nearly capped in ent healing by the time they reached novice elite. Once it breaks into two lines in the upper trees it doesn't climb as fast but is still faster than the knowledge/tech lines provided that you are performing for injured on a regular basis. Ent healing is also based on the number of folks in the group and the level of the people in the group when you are grouped with several high level performers the ent healing gains are extreme this is because each performers healing ability combines to heal everyone watching the group so if there are several severly injured folks being quick healed the experience will come in waves.

Well, you and your fellow entertainers could always write "songs" -- sets of flourishes with timings, etc -- and do things in synch. Then it would sound more harmonious. Of course, it's a lot of work and if someone gets off-pattern it would be a pain... but I bet it'd sound better.

And that's really the point of the system. It's not about hitting Master Musician/Entertainer/Dancer first and worrying about how you sound second. It really should be about doing both at the same time. If you're not having fun with the music, then barrelling through the advancement ladder to get to an Ommnibox is just going to aggravate you.

It's best to "double tap" flourishes. Don't wait for one to stop before starting another. The system with queue your keystrokes. If soloing, if you hit F1, F4, F1, F3 (assuming /flourish # equals FKEY #), you'll get the max XP you can solo. 15xp per flourish actually turns out to be 30xp for two flourishes quickly tapped sequentially.

Of course, over time the xp gain is roughly the same between your method and double tapping. It just looks more impressive to gain 30 vs 15

But really, don't overthink it too much. This isn't artisan stuff where you Gather, Combine and Pray, on both the side of resources and the side of customers What we do is essentially "free". Our advancement through it is based more on our enjoyment of doing so than on any actual increasing "need" to the galaxy. The only difference between Ent Healing I and Music Wound/Fatigue healing IV is time. And, that time only happens after battle, in a camp for the former and a cantina for the latter anyway.

We're something of an "Easy" profession from a game mechanic point of view, but a "hard" one because it's entirely self-driven. You've got to like it, alot, or you'll never enjoy "how long it takes" to hit uber.

So the best thing to do is to look for creative ways to spend that time. Manual bandflourishes (coordinated flourishes that give XP to all) are definitely one way. Ya don't know how fast time can go when you're jamming with a bunch of folks that love the music.

Besides, hitting Master Musician or Dancer is going to easily cost well more than half your total skill points. You really gotta love music to guarantee non-uber status in any sort of artisan or combat skillset

I agree with Darniaq. Music/Entertaining is not a "become powerful" profession: its a social one. I play in one of the lesser known planets, and the people know each other like on "Cheers". Also, I am advancing, making money, and having fun, without leaving the city at all. As for gaining faster xp, I find hitting certain flourish combos get more xp, like hitting Flos. 4-1-8 get me 15xp each time in SW2. I suspect there are others. And best of all, I havent fought or died at all. Is this for everyone? No. But for those of us who like it, its a breath of Fresh MMORPG air.

Well said, ImpHunter...

I too have not had to be killed or get into any fights. Even when they are shooting right outside the cantina when I am walking in or out, I can just ignore those freaky little PVPers and be about my own business... :-)

I'm not really about 'lovin' the music' in any sense of the idea. I just want to make the healing process after I get jacked up as short a one as possible, I'm primarily a builder, and avoid fighting. However there's been more than a few times lag has caused me to walk up on aggressive mobs before they showed up on my radar, or I've had a spawn drop too near me while I'm sampling. It's those occassions that I'm wanting to recover from quickly as my weapon skills almost guarantee that I'll not make it out of the combat alive, and even if I am pretty fancy with a pistol, my health ensures that I won't be standing up shooting very long before I'm eating sand, grass, dirt, etc...

Just one remark.

I was in a Kayt dragon kill party with 40 people... I played music and get 200 heal ent and 101 music xp a tick. And I was alone playing... (I'm a master musician ).

So having big party looking at you is good too.

(When in fullentertainer band I think I can have *3 my alone music xp)

Least but not last, a little tick : cheer each other ! All the band get the xp ! Well cannot cheers when playing ommni or Nalargon.
