I've been reading all the stuff about Denying Service, and I've been thinking. Denial of service isn't what we really need. We need one of two things, and these are two things that keep music going in the real world to:
Admission Fees:
Like those at private cantinas, part of which I would hope the onwer gives to the Entertainer
Patrons:
This is the big one - patrons of the arts. Find someone who is willing to finance your Entertainer - believe it or not they are out there. On the new Tempest Server my character Adaral Edulin, is such a patron at the Cantina in Mos Espa. I'm an Entertainer/Marksman. Some days I entertain, other days I run destroy missions. When I'm in the Cantina I make sure there's a good size band there.
When someone gets the XP to learn a skill, if no one in the cantina has the skill, I'll tip them enough to get it from an NPC - otherwise, I help them find a PC in the group who can train them (that's often me for dancers) The system seems to work.
Tonight, I'm taking one of the Dancers out with me to pick up some Marksman skills as well - it doesn't take a whole lot of time - one days destroy missions will probably keep us going for a week. When it gets to the more expensive times and the dancers start needing outfits (heck, Tempest doesn't have Tailors yet so that's a ways off), I may run a few additional Marksman missions. But, that's what I plan for this character. If we had a few more Patrons of the Arts, we could have a few more strict entertainers.
