Thread: Healing XP vs. Music XP

After sitting in the Coronet cantina for two nights, I have now completed the Healing Branch in Entertainer and have enough XP for the next two levels in Musician, and now I am stuck and wasting any Healing XP that I'm earning since that is as far as you can go with XP without learning the next skill. Although I am almost positive that if it didn't stop my XP earning, I would have enough for both the complete Damage and Wound Branch in Musician.

Is this just because I'm in one of the most populated cantinas in the game, or does anyone else see a major balance issue between these two skill branches?

I experienced the same thing. I learned two levels of Fatigue Healing the minuteI got Novice Musician. I think it is common because the person teaching me expected that and didn't seem to think it was funny in any way.

If you think about it, the opportunity to earn Music XP is much greater than Fatigue XP. I'm learning that now. You get Music XP anywhere... I play while waiting for the shuttle, for example. And if you spend a lot of time in empty cantinas then you will likely have more Music XP and less Healing XP. I play in Coronet on Kettemoor, so I do think the popular cantina has a lot to do with it. I never felt like I was wasting XP though....I thought "Cool, I can still earn Healing XP even though I can't use it yet!" Figured I wouldn't even be able to earn it until learning Novice Musician.

So... You can ALWAYS earn music XP anywhere, but Healing XP only comes when people who need healing are listening to you or a bandmate. This would make it seem like you will have more Music XP than Healing, so the differences when you are playing with a large band for a lot of injured people greatly favors Healing XP... I'll get 50 Music XP a tic and 150 Healing XP when the cantina is full. This is good for citizens of Moenia or places that don't have many patrons. They don't get Healing XP often, but when they do it's enough to catch up with the Music XP.

Don't complain about it... Even while playing in Coronet Cantina (in European hours) I reach all music IV branch before finishing the healing one. Have to wait for 2 days before earning enough healing points to become a Master...

And when I reach novice musician, I was in the same case as you... Earning too much healing xp at the time

I've never played in a populated cantina - I play in a empty-most-of-the-time Hotel and my ent. healing branches are behind by a lot. Will prolly finish up Music Knowledge/Techniques 4 before Fatigue/Wound branches. But I'll get them eventually of course.

Just remember the higher you go in healing the faster you heal the less time you get healing exp. my healing branches ended up being the last ones I filled out for the simple fact I was healing to fast *grin*

I still haven't figured out how healing xp is earner. I mean besides just someone who needs healing watching you. I sometimes see large spikes in xp earned. The biggest was about 2k entertainment healing xp in one tick of music. However, 8 seconds later it was only in the low 100s.

You nailed it. Coronet is a busy place. Mos Espa is not as busy and I leveled both around the same time. Depends on the traffic.

uhh, I had Entertainer healing IV learned a VERY LONG time before I got Music 3.
If you perform flourishes, you should get tons of healing xp, in proportion to music xp.

when i'm in a typical group, my exp reads like this

75 ent. healing xp
70 ent. healing xp
21 music xp

for each flourish I perform. This assumes people are watching the band

It's my experience that flourishing has no bearing on Healing XP, just Musician XP.

I'm an entertainer on the new Shadowfire server. I started out in Moenia en performed mostlt there and in Kaadaara. The're weren't many customers around but there were a couple of entertainers. We grouped and made a lot of music XP. I finished the music tree before i had enugh XP for the Ent. Healing tree. I took a shuttle to correlia to Coronet. There was a large group of entertainers there wich i joined. Coronet has a styde stream of customers. in one night raked up tons of Ent.healing XP. (and also a lot more music xp than i would do on Naboo) I made master Entertainer and the temptation to stay in Coronet was great, because of the high amount of XP. But i found that i much more enjoyed performing in less busy cantinas, cause i can give the customers a better performance when the place isn't so crowded. I also get tipped much more in the quiet cantinas than in the busy Coronet cantina. In coronet i only spended money. So i returned to Naboo were i know my services are much more needed thenon correllia even if i make less XP.

I guess what i was just trying to say is it depends a lot on were you play and with whom you play how XP gets distributed. If you are all grouped (all emtertainers that is) then if any custumers listens or watches to anyone it the group you all get XP so if 8 customers are watching the group you get 8x the XP. Also your performance XP (Music or dance XP) inmproves if you play in a larger group. The trade off is that you also are likely to get way less tips. While performing in less crowded places with a smaller band gives you less XP but more tips and more fun in my oppinion.

Hrm...

I have not sat there keeping careful track on a note pad, and it is hard to tell with people leaving and entering the group and coming in and out. But it seems to me that I get way more Ent. Heal XP right after a flourish, than if I am not flourishing.

Anyone know the specifics of this? If you don't flourish, does it take people longer to heal than if you do, for the same skill rank?

My observations (note, these are observations I have garnered from working my way towards master entertainer);

Music XP increases the more musicians you have in a band. It doesn't depend on how many people watch you or listen to you. Music XP is given when you use flourishes. If you are in a band and using the /bandflourish command, only the person who initiated the bandflourish gets the exp.

Healing XP increases both with the number of people (both dancers and musicians) in the band and the number of cheap skate non-tippers (how I have come to view 99% of those who stop by the cantina) who are leaching from you by listening to you. You will get healing XP whether you flourish or not, and flourishing doesn't increase the XP.

Music XP seems to move substantially slower than dancing XP but our flourishes take less action to perform. I do believe a dancer would level faster than a musician assuming they were both always in the same band and were playing to the same customers.
