Thread: A simple idea for getting cash to performers
Here it is...
Eliminate looping macros and long alias.txt macroing.
Award money for dancing, musician XP earned in a cantina, ignoring any XP bonuses.
For example...
As a composer I make 37XP a tick when I double flourish. At about 13,000cr an hour.
Add an award of 1cr for every 2XP earned and I get 6500cr an hour for playing (regardless of groups, and other bonuses). You can even cap the max daily amount to prevent exploiting.
I can make that easily running destroy missions solo (even with halved payouts) so musicians get an incentive to play...since it is based on XP, I can't just stand there and get money either. Plus, I have to get higher in my profession to make any real money.
That's an interesting idea. But tying it to XP doesn't make it sustainable. Eventually, people cap their XP needs. Even if in some far off future we get some sort of "elite-elite" profession, people still can't go past a certain total General Music/Dance XP beyond advanced master right now.
Gig mission terminals are going to help the Entertainers out alot. Except for travel problems into dangerous areas, they should allow an entertainer an income that approximates their relative "need" for money.
Like, a Musician/Carbineer shouldn't be looking to fund their latest weapon upgrade by Musician missions. They could try, but it would make more sense for a weapon's user to need to use that weapon to do missions that make them money to upgrade the weapons.
Conversely, a Musician/Carbineer should be allowed the ability to fund a house they turn into a Bar/Tavern, or to travel at whim wherever they want, purchase outfits and instruments and so on.
I imagine gig missions will pay out something akin to delivery missions, rather than Destroy missions. As a Musician who knows people, I find that my financial "needs" are alot less than when I'm a Carbineer (I still prefer that spelling to the one ingame
)
Even after you hit the cap, you are still awarded XP. But I really meant, just scale it by the amount of XP you would earn so that a master musician would make more than a novice entertainer.
I am eagerly awaiting the musician mission terminals, but there will be problems. I doubt the payout will warrant the effort. Theoretically they must pay more than deliver missions to equal reward v time spent. But as I understand it they don't.
And then there's another problem. I have to keep taking missions to earn money which means I don't get paid for standing around. I have to keep travelling to other places to earn a little dough. So much for settling in for the night.
