Thread: How about a /fan command to complement /deny?

Now that /denyservice is there to help control bad patrons, how about something positive? What about a /fan command? A patron who particularly likes an entertainer can place the entertaineron their "fan" list. If an entertainer has a fan listening or watching, they will gain skill faster and the patron will heal faster and get bigger buffs. To prevent just placing the current entertainer on the fan list, keep the list short and only allow the patron to place one entertainer on the list every 24 hours.

It needs to be fleshed out more but I like this basic concept. It stands to reason a famous or popular dancer or musician would have "groupies." :-)

FYI, it couldn't be /fan. That is short for Fan Shot. I discovered that while trying to emote fanning myself in the heat.

But /groupie has a nice ring to it. *grin*

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

Ok, this is probably too open to abuse to actually get put in, but I love the concept!

Oh, and would female groupies gain the /throwpanties command?

Mercurial, I like the idea, but I'd personally implement it differently.

Entertainers already receive a skill boost any time a /listen'er or /watch'er claps or cheers (using /clap or /cheer). It sounds like the /fan idea would essentially do the same thing.

What if the /fan idea was sort of a secondary Friends list though?

This would be a list of Entertainers someone is a fan of, and would show who's currently playing and where. It could work like this:

  1. You /fan someone to the list (or /fan them again to remove them).

  2. You log in again and find they're not playing where you saw them last night

  3. You open the Fan List dialog window and see their name on the list. They are currently Online, listed as Entertaining, and their current venue is the Theed Cantina.

  4. Now you know you can go there, and /clap and /cheer them to help them gain XP.

Maybe they're Online, but listed as "On Break" (only two options: Entertaining or On Break). You could send them a tell/email asking when they're act is starting up again.
