Thread: Taking Singing to a new level (Duel Thread)
I'm posting this both here and in the musician forums, because I'd like to see what everyone thinks.
I recently got Master Musician, and I'm loving every single minute of it. I play in a small cantina on Talus, and when I say small I mean I am often the only musician there, with maybe one or two dancers. Last night I was the only entertainer in the cantina for about 10 hours, and I was having a ball. I was sitting behind my Nalargon, chatting it up like a lounge singer, and singing old jazz standards when an idea hit me. I love the /sing command, use it constantly as I've seen many others talk about using on here, but it's up to the other players to try and figure out the melodies. So why not make an enhancement to the entertainer/musician tree that would go something like this.
Impliment a /sing command that works like the /flourish command with music. You could have /sing 1-8, and the flourishes would be sung out in gibberish (A La Sims), and the person singing would insert their own lyrics in the spacial chat just as sing works now. So a command like [/sing 5 The Emperor went down to Tatootine] would have a voice sing gibberish that matches the 5th flourish of the current song, while the same sing chat box would appear over their head with the translation.
Now for this to really work, there would have to be a few qualifiers. I think it would work best if you could only use this voice command with music you can play yourself. So if the band is playing Jazz, and you can't play Jazz, you can't add your voice to the mix. You would still be able to use the /sing command as it exists now though. And of course there'd have to be a male version and a female version, wouldn't want a female musician standing in front of the crowd and singing bass. Hehe.
And Yes, I know there are other more important things to be implimented, this is just a goofy lounge singing musician dreaming, and seeing what his fellow entertainers think. Because the true problem with the entertainer class is that we've forgotten how to entertain. You want those tips? Want loyal fans to foam at the mouth when they hear you're playing in the cantina? Entertain them. Don't just chit chat with them about thier day, give them a show they won't soon forget, and they'll come back everytime. In fact I have people travel from off world to see my shows sometimes. Have fun with it folks, that's what being an entertainer is all about.
But anyways, I digress. Tell me what you think about this? Good? Worthless? Could use some work?

Was just wondering why I have never seen you around, what time zone are you? I'm a big fan of singing myself and do so often
Some arrangements are shown below:

At the moment I tend to arrange songs straight or in a star wars vein as I am not great at lyrics. Working on it though ![]()
Here are a couple of shots from some performances to give you an idea of what Talus Moon are up to ![]()

Hehe. I'm EST, though I play more like I live in the Pacific Islands. (C: Recently, I've been hiding in my own Cantina just South East of Nashal, follow the river out of town and you can't miss it.
Always looking for someone to entertain with, I'll have to look you up. (C:
While I like the idea, I think it's something that should be on the backburner. Until then, make your own song aliases. Here is my first one.
----------------------------------------
My song alias...
----------------------------------------
/alias TTEVerse1 /sing There's a Gungan making stew from fresh farm raised Kaadu somewhere on Naboo / It's a house with a view and all you see is green and blue for miles; /pause 5;/sing All the merchants are contented because the market's well attended this morning / And the proles are protected from Swoopers by Stormtroopers sporting smiles;
/alias TTERef1 /sing Oh-ho, What a beautiful morning / Oh-ho, What a beautiful day / Oh-ho, What a sickening feeling / It took so long to have this peace / Now they're throwing it away;/pause 10;/sing Now I was taught not to play with fire - Trust the Empire / If you want to see your crops grow higher - Trust the Empire / You know the Rebels are all thugs and liars - Trust the Empire / Your first loyalty is the Empire - Trust the Empire
/alias TTEVerse2 /sing Another gun toting Wookiee playing hooky from his misson has gone fishin' / He needs a stricter master, not a smuggler with a blaster - that's my solution;/pause 5;/sing And the Bothans misbehaving? It's those outlawed spices that they're craving - so depraving / There should be bounty hunters stalking all the Rebels who are talking revolution;
/alias TrustTheEmpire /TTEVerse1;/pause 22;/TTERef1;/Pause 22;/TTEVerse2;/Pause 22;/TTERef1
