I took Novice Entertainer today, went to Coronet cantina (packed as usual). Couldn't get a group, only seemed to be a couple who weren't AFK. So I thought well dance away for a bit anyway. Twenty minutes grooving later not one XP point. At this point I thought sod this and dropped it.

How the hell are you supposed to get XP?

Thanks for the advice Utess. Firstly, let me say I am on silent and doing the entertainer stuff as i've done nothing there before, so I am a grinder. I have macro'd before for grinding up crafting trees (no one seems to buy anything if it's not made by a Master, seems a bit of a problem there....) but I have to say that entertainer takes the biscuit.

I've spent two hours in the cantina, can't get a group coz everyone is AFK, very little chat going on, when there is any chatI make the most of it. Entertainers could in theory be among the most well known players on any server, everyone needs the cantina from time to time. I'll be dancing again tomorrow, at the keyboard, and trying to at least have a conversation, but I can see why so many people AFK this profession.

Surely there must be something they can add to entertainer to make it more than merely an AFK macro profession.

Welcome to the life in the age of the holo-tainer. My words of advice, find a niche in a place that's remote, like Lok, Dathomir, or Dantooine. That's a good place to start hunting for Ent. Healing XP. Dancing XP is always easy... but the Ent. Healing XP is a lot harder.

Best of luck to ya...

Definately find a small town and work your way into thier hearts. You will be appreciated as no entertainer can be in the filled rooms of large cities. And you will find FAME an obtainable goal.

For every entertainer that whines about AFKs and not being able to make it in player cities - there are DOZENS who LOVE the job and do quite well, thank you!

I've found a few very nice entertainers in Coronet. The good entertainers are there they just go into hiding because as boring as it is for someone like me to go into a Cantina and find all afk entertainers it is many times more for someone who is in there all day. Send them a tell or better yet some mail and find a time to group up and work together.

Are you refering to dancing xp or entertainer healing xp? For dancing xp(and music xp), the amount that you get will "degrade" over time depending on how often you flourish. How often you flourish depends on how quickly you want xp and how long you can keep dancing before you run out of action To keep your xp at a decent rate, I'd flourish no less than once every minute or so. Flourish faster will get you more but you'll either need a healer or have high action secondaries to last.

For entertainer healing xp, well, thats a different story To get that xp, you need people with mind wounds or battle fatigue to either watch you directly, or any member of the group you are in. The amount of xp you get is fixed based on the amount of healing you do. Everyone in a group gets the same amount too btw.

As for how to get entertainer healing xp faster, well, its going to be slow no matter what. Its one of the top issues for dancers and musicians. It's going to be slow no matter what and sadly that is something you just have to accept. That said, there are a few things you can do to make it less painful to get

First, I'd recommend getting out of coronet cantina and away from all the afk hologrinders. Find a cantina somewhere where there is a demand for an entertainer but far fewer people(other static city cantinas or even better, player city cantinas in the more populated player cities on your server. For one thing, it will probably be a lot more fun that way as you'll have more interaction with your customers, and you probably will run across more real entertainers who you can chat with and have fun with instead of staring at some afk bot all day =/

The second option is to get together some friends and have them help you out by doing a variety of things to give them mind wounds or battle fatigue(combat medics, sampling radioactives, etc). It is often very easy to get together a few friends and make a fun party out of the whole affair. Still, this isn't likely something you will be able to do often, and it can be a pain instead of a party too, but it will get you entertainer healing xp faster.

When i was grinding my XP in Theed, I tried to make a difference. It was RIGHT as the holotrainers were coming in - and it was still ODD to see people dancing who were major fighters the week before... SIGH.. those were the innocent days..,

But I digress...

I tried VERY hard to get the REAL entertainers motivated and organized. They were JUST beginning to complain about groups being TOO LARGE, TOO AFK, and always having to play the low skill songs with people who didn't understand flourishing.

My solution was to kindly give the cantina over to the new players and holotainers. Those with higher skills and a love for the profession could play in the Theed Theater. Not only would this please both groups, it would make for a fun use of a LARGE space and let ppl even bring in thier large pets. I really thought it would have been a great thing.

Alas.. I spend many days in the Theater alone - and hourly tried to get some to join me.. but it didn't work. Some people prefer to stay in thier circumstances refuse to take a step to change them. If they only spent half as much energy they used to complain - we could have made a difference in Theed.

After I graduated from the Theed Musical Academy, I left to find a player city. I found a city that was EMPTY, with no cantina (just happened to be someone from my guild - but I looked in other cities too). I placed my cantina as soon as we grew large enough to place it and had only 2 hours to fully decorate it for a city event - sheesh!

Months later, the city is a thriving metropolis - on LOKno less! You can't say we benefit fromanpopulated planet! The cantina is busy most hours of the day - with fighter, crafters and entertainers (both rebel and imperials) come to hang out and have a good time.

Entertainers who say it can't be done, do so because they lack the imagination and drive to make it happen.
