Please allow both Musicians and Dancers to buff all 3 mind stats. Both professions enhance the mind, why seperate the two? Players looking for buffs have commented several times that they don't like all the downtime required to get a full buff. 3 players shouldn't be needed to do this...

All I ask is that you consider it!

The system maximum is two hours duration. Anything else was a bad buffer.

Well, the idea is to ensure that both Dancers and Musicians have a distinct role to play in the combat-support side of the game. If you can find one of each, you can buff all 3 stats simultaneously. You can always /listen to a Musician while /watching a Dancer.

As the representative of Musicians, I've been reluctant to embrace proposals that would remove the distinctiveness of Musicians in part because I worry that we'd lose most of our buffing business to Dancers. My admittedly un-verifiable suspicion is that most players would prefer to watch a Dancer do Exotic than listen to me do Virtuoso. Hearing the same song over and over again is more tiresome than watching the same languid dance over and over again. And most Dancers look better in a leotard than I do.

Ew, NewJedi, I don't agree at all.

If you are worried about the patron's perspective, I don't think there is much to worry about. For bf healing, musicians and dancers seem to be used equally: either whoever is there, whoever is closer, whoever is more interesting, whoever is less chatty, and also whoever is cuter. Whatever the specific desire of the patron is, it seems to hold a whole lot more weight than any preference for either profession.

Non-ents never can understand why I won't drop Dancer for Musician even though I believe Musician buffs are so much more useful. I always thought they may have given Musicians the more powerful buffing ability because they thought more people would choose dancer if the two were equal. If that was the reasoning, I also think that's completely wrong. Playstyle is enough to keep us separated and distributed as much as we will be.

I just don't enjoy Musician like I do Dancer. I envy the secondary buffing abilities, the ability to cue up flourishes, and the /band commands... but I just don't enjoy playing music like I do dancing. It's goofy, but true. *shrug* I know tons of Master Musicians that like dancer buffs (I know because I buff them) but they would rather die than do our silly dances. These aren't even all role-players. o.o

I have no idea why it's like this, there seems to be no real logic to it other than some kind of weird self identification. I do know that entertainers are the only ones that seem to get it. Those of us that are dancer only or musician only would continue to do our own separation. Patrons would continue to see little difference as they do now.

(more random babbling: I think Musician is filled out much better than dancer but for some reason tends to appeal to a much more selective crowd. This doesn't seem to be sex based, rl or ig sex, or even race and looks based. Contrary to how we talk on the boards, I know a ton of music only very pretty female flirty Twis and very fat male funny dance only Wookiees... just about every race/sex/sex appeal combo you can think of is equally present in both profs as a solo. If the stereotypes were ever true, they don't seem to be now. I'm not counting holotainers, but I think this diversity may have been encouraged by the holo shake up. hmmmm)
