a command /tip group [amount]

this way everyone in the group gets an equal share and no one is left out, this is how loot works, why not tips for entertainers?

People would need to tip to begin with. I get tips sometimes, but not often. More on high-adventure planets...and not enough to justify the money I spend to get there, missing out on buffing opportunities just being a Master Musician with my tag up in Coronet, non-AFK.

Then we would need to matter enough for this to be included. And that'll never happen.

I think overall this could hurt some of the live entertainers- I've been in the air on this subject ofr a long time - and think I will stay on the fence for this - though I feel group tip would be an option and not the default - the default being to a specific user- otherwise it could cause problems with other features (buffing, trades) that people perform - Also this could only work for tips from your current montary flow, cause I can see this causieng havok iwth the bank tip system - from the email component of it alone

Hmm, I thought I replied to this post yesterday; maybe the forum monster ate my post. Anyway, the gist of my reply was that this was initially a Top Five issue for Musicians, in the very first top-five poll I did. I was surprised then, because it wasn't a big issue for me personally. I nonetheless dutifully passed it on. The devs never really replied. And since then, the issue has dropped way down the list of Musician priorities, to the point that it barely scratches the top-twenty. I'm not sure why.

I think it's a matter that Entertainers in general don't really expect to get tips any more. I know that I'm thrilled when it happens as it is oh-so-rare.

Because a) I don't get tipped any more and b) because I don't want to share with people in my group because 15 of them might be Macrotainers on their way to jedi.

It would have been a nice improvement back in the days I played with a band of friends in a public cantina. Times changed.

Hmmm... what if instead of a /grouptip command given by the tipper, there was an option for groups who wish to evenly split tipping. Something that could be toggled on/off, for example. Every group member would have to accept the split tips for it to go into effect. In a group with 15 macrotainers? Don't enable the option. Working in your own dance troupe with a band as well? Split them up.

This came to mind the other night when my dance troupe was trying to remember how much we'd each been tipped throughout the evening, and were trying to figure out a tip-jar solution of some kind. What about literally a tip jar? Something that anyone could contribute to (target the jar, and /tip into it; the owner of the jar is the only one able to pull credits out to divide up). Problem? We'd have to be able to set that jar down, and once it was down, prevent someone from running off with it.

Some sort of tip-splitting option would occasionally be useful. Would it be worth it to enough people to justify any dev time to implement? Don't know... just throwing ideas out there.

Group auto-split of tips is a Bad Idea™. Often times there is money exchanged for services not entertainer related, or for services from a single entertainer (Buffs). Someone isn't going to expect a normal tip to go to the whole group.

I've been in support of an extra command/ability to tip the whole group since nearly when I started playing. But it just isn't that high a priority right now anymore.

Yes a group split is a bad idea, but the original poster has the right idea the game should have a /gtip command that is the customers choice if he wants to tip the whole group or just you. I am all for giving customers the choice.

I agree - even a flag, like /tip (person) 1000 group would be nice. Or as the original poster suggested, a gtip command.

If you're grouping with AFKers, then you should accept that - in return for the xp bonus you'll get - there should be some downside.
