Thread: The REAL draft of the entertainer top issues

Perhaps, perhaps not.

I do see where you're coming from. If I'm understanding correctly you're looking to basically strike text from off of all the issues like I did with the master entertainer issue?

The only risk is then things swinging the other way. Instead of being too specific and getting a response that basically says "Not going to happen" you get a response that says "We'll consider it but can't really dedicate any resources to it." A balance would be saying "Here are the issues, we have some ideas on what to do about it." then if they are interested they will come back and say "What are these ideas?"

I know you can't see this part for yourself, but the process isn't quite like the 10 questions were. The correspondents bring you the responses to the issues, not the devs. It's not just a spoon feeding of "Here's what to say now go say it like a good corr" either. There is a dialog back and forth until the corr and the devs are happy with it. So having issues that aren't worded quite right isn't as big of an issue, as the issues list evolves.

I will, however, read over the list again tomorrow and consider rewording. While having it worded just right isn't a requirement, it could save time.

Um...I never claimed that the ideas came from a vacuum, nor did I claim that the top 5 issues were Tiaga's unilateral opinion. Not sure where you got those ideas from.

It does however seem that there is more a focus on the problem itself rather than what causes the problem.

"Ironically, while researching this piece a representative from Sony asked us to keep in mind that many of the players complaining "weren't playing the class right," and that the class was designed as a solo experience. Such a comment is indicative of the original Ultima Online mistake: not realizing that once an MMO is released to the public, it no longer belongs to the developers, it belongs to the people paying $14.99 a month for the service."

Thank you, really. This is exactly what I have been hoping an entertainer correspondent (on any of the forums) would put up. It finally addresses the major problems with our professions. Well done!

Okay, I didn't know there was dialog between Devs and Corr, so that makes it more acceptable to do that, but I still think that presenting a 'loaded question' off of the bat would be unwise. If anything, write down your suggestions but don't send those in to the devs and wait to see what they come up with. Then, during your 'talks' with them, bring up your suggestions one by one so they can deal with each one as it comes instead of setting it up for them to focus on one solution.

i.e. The devs will look at 'booting AFKers after x minutes'as an entertainer issue instead of evaluating the situation at hand, judging the role of the AFKer, and then brainstorm on their end for solutions. I think that if you left out the suggestions, and they themselves didn't think of the ones you/the community had in mind, then it would make for a great dialog in which information and point of views could be exchanged so both sides have a better perspective about the each other.

Also, giving a couple suggestions may say to the devs that out of all possible solutions, these are the only ones the Entertainer Community feels would be worthwhile. This would be another reason to make them focus on only those suggestions instead of looking at all possible solutions (even if only subconsciously).

When it's all said and done, I can see no negative things from holding back the suggestions until your back-and-forth with them, but I can see a few negative things from presenting 'loaded questions' on their plate. Just something to think about as the Correspondent for the Entertainer Community.

*Beep* Wrong. Noone but SOE has any rights in this game. If SOE doesn't like the color of your socks, your account can be gone in seconds. Read the TOS. If anything you do hurts other players, no matter how small their numbers, it's harrassment. You probably won't deny that unattended gameplay is a bad thing for every profession not only because it means something is broken, but also it creates imbalance between players. My PA ( Entertainers/Tailors/Chefs ) lost 35 people out of 40. They didn't change professions, or servers, they left the game. While there is a lot of fluctuation, that surely is a lot of loss for a game build on subscriber fees. And while 2 quit for personal reasons and 3 just didn't like the game, theoverwhelming majority left because of the cantina zombification, lack of respect and lack of pay. This class wasn't meant to be botted ( no class was ) and something has to change. Unattended gameplay has to cease, or the concept has to be changed. Either way, the current state regarding unattended gameplay is unbearable and I guess the DEVs have finally noticed.

@Tiaga: Great Job, as always Nothing to add or change from my point of view.

I don't think there's anything really broken in the Entertainer Profession. But as a Master Entertainer, I do think that particular skill box warrants some changes. Now I'm not in favor of giving away the Mandoviol to Musicians (I think that issue could be easily resolved by giving a new, different stringed instrument to the Musician Profession) ... however, as someone who has played other Master Starting Professions, I have to conclude Master Entertainer is among the weaker ones. The Mandoviol and Ceremonial Song are the only benefits to Master Entertainer for me. I'll confess I'm not big on dancing, but I would very much like to see some unique Image Design abilities bestowed on Master Entertainers. And I'm also very much in favor of adding some sort of new ability to Master Entertainer that might combine aspects from all of our skill branches. From my perspective, additional content for Master Entertainers is the main "fix" necessary for a profession that's already largely enjoyable and playable. Please give us a significant reward for bothering to fill all 16 skill boxes and gather the requisite Apprentice Points to achieve Master Status.

Heh, remember this thread is about the wording of what he's presenting, not making suggestions for fixing the problems.

"What the issues are is not up for question. That has already been firmly established by community input. However, the wording is my own, and it is that which I present to you now."

If you'd like to discuss your ideas, I'm sure that no one would mind a new thread on the subject if there isn't one already

  • discrepancy in spelling of one of our instruments: "a fizzz" & "a fizz"

  • please make entertainer missions worthwhile

  • personally I'd like to be able to crate instruments up to 50 per (they are currently 25 per)

  • implement instrument quality

  • profession specific clothing

My apologies for not staying on topic.

I did not understand this thread was only for discussing wording of issues that had already been decided and that noadditonal inputwas welcomed on this thread. I misunderstood that after reading other people's suggestions for solving problems being posted here. Thus, I respectfully submit I am not the only one guilty of using this thread for something other than strictly discussing suggestions that havealready been decided upon in advance and presented to ussolelyfor discussion of wording issues alone.

Nevertheless, you have my apologies. I simply did not understand and plead ignorance for my off-topic post. I will not make any further suggestions on this thread.

Thank you.

Don't worry too much about it. And thank you for acknowledging it instead of getting defensive.

If anyone has any more concerns, but was waiting until the last minute.. Well, the last minute is approaching. I'll be putting the final list together tomorrow and submitting it either tomorrow or Friday.
