I almost took over the galaxy but... since i had to wait 12 seconds beforeplaying music again - my plans were thwarted!
I mean.. it is bad enuff that we still have to contend with the horrible target issues with the Nalargon and Ommni Boxes. Only NOW, if you accidentally click off to target a customer - you stop playing AND have to wait 12 seconds to start again!!!
This is really the lamest, silliest NERF to a profession that was already under-valued, nonrevenue earning, low mission payouts, destroyed by afk'ing hologrinders...
...now this!
I'm not leaving... I'm just saying.

ummm you know... ur an entertainer... i dont know why someone would want to be an entertainer, but i guess its for the good of the people. So dont whine, be happy, sing a song, and rejoice in the music of today; anyway im sure you can spare 12 seconds, no?

Just like you can spare the time to type out the entire word 'you're' and hit that Shift key, huh?

The adage is "Time is Money" and I'm relatively certain that it took MORE than 12 seconds for the Devs to write the code that took 12 seconds away from entertainers.
I'm left to ponder...
WHY?

Further more people were using the Speed Buff to boost xp or at least claimed it would give them 4 times the xp so they could level faster. I don't know about you but this definitely would be considered an exploit to me and I think they solved it well with the 15 second pause.

I've never done a speed buff - and I've been an entertainer for many months. I can see the 2 minute wait before you can implement a buff (this still seems like a clumsy implementation), but giving the musician a 15 second wait...
I don't see how it keeps an entertainer from doing a speed buff. 15 seconds THEN speed buff, right? No, because of the 2 minute wait... so, what's the point of the 15 sec delay?
A true FIX would have been to keep things as transpearantly similar to the way they should have been - and removed the ability to exploit... not complicate things even more. What I mean to say is this... a proper FIX would have only affected exploiters and kept them from exploiting. What they did, however was to effect all entertainers with one more hassle - not game-breaking, but certainly unneccessary.
And on the nalargon and ommni box.. I mention it NOW because months after it was pointed out as a problem - they still haven't fixed it- but they did take time to code in a clumsy 15 second time delay.
I'm not ranting, not saying the profession is broken, not saying I'm leaving... etc. I'm just asking why, and could they not have addressed some of our stated issues first.

I'll tell you why there is a 15 second wait. The speed buff worked as such. They would setup a macro that had to include a start and stop and would start and stop probably 100 to 200 times a minute. Now by implementing the 15 second stop it gets them before they can even really start the speed buff. That is why there is a 15 second pause. As for the Omni-Box and the N'alargon needing to target for use. I'm not sure but I believe the targeting is required because of the mechanix in their use. See unlike the rest of our instruments it is in the game world for anyone to use. This could be the reason why it has to be targeted. Once again if you don't like how they work then use another instrument.

Well of course ANY good speed buffer will adjust their macro accordingly and work around the 'fix'. And as I say, what should have been fixed to just eliminate the exploit has turned into a nagging issue for all. Not a good solution.
And.. please don't get silly on the instruments.I will and wont use certain instruments for a variety of reasons, occassions, etc.. but not because someone on the forum told me what to do. We are all musicians with a variety of opinions, skills, styles and groups - so let's pleasekeep a level of professional respect.
The argument of dont use it if you dont like it.. would also be turned around on the exploit fix. If you dont like those who exploit the buffing system - don't use them.. This argument would be used to keep the devs from fixing anything in the game... If you dont like something... dont use it, don't issue any in-game tickets on it, don't mention it on the forums, etc.
However, it is, of course proper for us to use the forums to ask questions on the whys and hows - and to point out in-game issues with thesystem when it effects our game. For instance, this is why the devs addressed the exploit - People complained about it. This is a good thing. However, now we have players asking about the fix and suggesting that it might not have been a very good fix - and pointing out other areas of the entertainment system that still need to be addressed.
Again, lets keep this respectful. No one is bashing the Devs here. Just asking questions and offering feedback about in-game problems. I appreciate your feedback and opinions, I just don't share them. And shutting people down because you dont agree with them - doesn't win any points with anyone.

Who gives a crap about the 15 second wait. It wasa good fail safe against the speed buffs. The fact is if they didn't add the fail safe then people would have speed buffed for 30 seconds then had them just keep listening for the minimum 2 minutes. So stop looking for things to complain about and just go and perform. On the Nalargon and Omni Box matter well that has been there so why complain about it now? I use a Chidinkalu Horn and Play Virtuoso and it buffs very well and is much easier to use. Plus the Chid does sound very nice on Virtuoso
