I took up novice Entertainer this morning and went into the cantina, joined a group and danced my wookie butt off on the Infinity-European server. I danced for a hour while I tidy my place up and did some ironing (I was not AFK) as I kept checking every 5 mins.

After a hour I made 54 credits in tips. I now know why your dancers, entertainers compain all the time

I do belive Entertainers are a very important part of the game, if they were no entertainers at all everybodys mind bar would be black and their can never fight. From now on I will be tipping entertainers. I know the truth

We appreciate it. I play a Musician for the fun of it, because I like it, and because it provides a useful service for other players. And when I ran characters who were not entertainers, I tipped religiously. For many who run pure entertainers, money is a constant problem, because so many do not.

Ramala, Tatooine, Eclipse

The reason you made so little was because you did it in an hour as a new entertainer (notice not a noob, I'm not being arrogant) If you can get dance tech 4 then you will be able to buff at 75% which is all that is necessary for the person you are buffing you can charge about 5-10k for a buff (although 10k is unfair). when i was hologrinding musician and dancer and entertainer i was worried i would get no cash for a couple weeks but i was wrong. i actually made a good amount, but dancers and musicians on the other hand don't need any money for their profession, they use it all on other things. but thats just my honest opinion.

Not true... dancers and musicians do need money for our professions, and it's about to get a bit more serious with clothing decay actually having an effect. We may not need millions to buy high-end weapons and armor (for those who are pure entertainers), but there are a lot of costs in specialized wardrobe (which can get very costly for BE enhanced items to help you heal faster, or improve your buff amounts), instruments, travel, and repairs... not to mention maintenance on structures to keep wardrobes, instruments and such. It may not be as high a cash requirement as some other professions, but we do have profession related expenses as well.

Ah, but the real Entertainer does care about his appearance to his audience.

And those people who care will want money to feed their need to improve their performances.

People who don't respect those kinds of Entertainers will simply be happy with a Mind Bar bot, so it's no good trying to persuade them.

Real Entertainers need money to make themselves more presentable. Real Entertainers need money to buy performing pets (and soon droids). Real Entertainers need money to travel around and staff empty cantinas.

If you don't want a real Entertainer, then feel free to watch the AFKers. You may not care about an Entertainer's appearance, but there are patrons who appreciate a nice outfit (and most of all, no underwear!).

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

Ok, this totally ignores the fact that dancers get better tips if they are dressed well rather than not. Not to mention, not paying for a vital service, (EG, how well would you fight if you could NOT get rid of battle fatique?) is simply unfathomable. Do you tip doctors? After all, all THEY do is heal wounds, and everybody knows they are rich anyway, right?

Get real. We ALL have expenses of one sort or another, and just because you don't know what those expenses are, doesn't mean they aren't valid. It costs 8k to travel to Endor and back, which is why you don't see many entertainers there. But when they are, they are appreciated. And then there is Yavin, and Lok, and . . .

Give us a break. You don't want to pay us, fine. Just don't complain when there are no entertainers available after holo-grinding goes away, because nobody wants to work for nothing.

Being an entertainer doesn't cost as much as some other proffessions, but it certainly costs plenty, especialy considering that their income relies soley on the generosity of other players. Theoretically, a novice entertainer could become a master Dancer without spending a dime, but people don't watch master dancers in novice clothes. And that situation requires no travel or possessions. Entertainers want houses and luxuries too. And musicians can't advacne without buying new instruments, and wouldn't you know it, buying stuff costs money.

I find it sad that people don't tip entertainers. It'sa required service for all combatants and it's more entertaining than the blue heart hings that appear when a medic heals you.

Entertainers have things that pretty much all players have. Speeders, Homes, Clothes and all the other expenses that others may have like Stims and so on. To say that they don't spend money while standing there also isn't true. A player could spend 8k or more for buffs depending on the server they're on just so they can flourish enough to buff someone in the 2 to 3 minute time frame just to try and make it easier on them. Now I am personable which means that I can possibly charm them into paying but I don't have a set fee for buffs and I'm a Master Dancer and Master Musician at the same time. I may get 10k from one player or as low as 2k depending on their mood when I buff them. But they most likely tip low or not at all if I just heal them even if I'm there and talking to them. I'll admit that I'm farely well off thanks to some players who paid me for weddings and such but this isn't the case for many. Torax is a dedicated Entertainer with the three Performance Mastered at the same time he can't have enough combat to make much money at all. I just wish people realized that yes many are Holoneers but to at least watch out for the ones who are there and consider that they could be more social and love the profession. You may appreciate it someday when the Holoneers are gone and that entertainer you tipped even just 2k to is still there smiling and happy to help and heal you.

Hmm, well 54 credits in one hour isn't too bad. On most days I play for about four hours and get 0 credits. I guess I should have known that playing a male dancer will get me few tips. But it's kind of frustrating talking to female dancers who come back from beingafk and have made more tips than I have talking to people.

Nature of the profession. Your best bet at making tips to humor. If you can keep them laughing and smiling they may throw a tip at you. Just saying "Hello <insert name>" isn't a enough for many players. Males entertainer have to rely on humor more than just sheer avatar looks. For example I may have made 175k on a great weekend but a female dancer who is as personable as I am can make that in one night. I don't mind it though since one of the female dancers was 30k of the 175k weekend
