If I could give you a cantina in an Imperial city, and assure you that AFK entertainers would not be allowed, would you be interested in such a thing?

The reason I ask is this...

The Crimson Empire understands the value of entertainment but we're mainly a PvP guild with a few PvE ppl tossed in the pot. A number of ppl in the guild RP but we're certainly not an RP guild. At the moment, my alt is the only RPing entertainer in our city/guild.Javier has suggested a Ent city and while I cannot give you that, I can give you our Cantina.

Would you live in a city that sees battle on almost a daily basis?

Would you run a cantina for the Empire?

I can't speak for other entertainers, but my guess is the best entertainer you could attract with the "if you build it" idea is a bot. Entertainers that aren't bots are social folk. The way to attract them is to be friends, not lure them in like a spider to a fly. And don't go around digging for friends just for a cantina. Go out and really make friends. Don't just go up to a dancer and say in a friendly way, "Nice shoes... Want to run a cantina?"

Inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on

Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends

Well, Tiaga, A'ri is/was an entertainer (can't remember if you dropped your skills or not, A'ri) and does haveent friends - only most of them are Rebels or neutral. Best of luck in your search, A'ri. I guess you can count me, Roho and Leivi out though, huh?

I have notice entertainers tend towards rebel or neutral, come to think of it.

Every player community boasts that there are always people needing healing in a city. Some are believable, but on Wanderhome, its just not so. EVERY PA Cantina is dead. I have crawled every planet in search, and the search is still fruitless, worse, a lot of wasted credits traveling.

Would I run one? sure. Would i come? once or twice. Until it was obvious that the city was just lik every other.

(Sorry pessimistic today)

Springbok:

I don't know about you... but with enough entertainers a Player City Cantina can be run exceptionally well...

1. You need entertainers in every time zone who are dedicated to playing in the cantina.

2. You need a cantina in a highly trafficked area or with a dedicated city populous.

Both, The Bishop's Sanctuary, Veritas, Naboo and The Drunken Tusken, Mos Elsewhere, Tatooine are run in this fashion. Sure they don't have the 24/7 service provided by an AFK BuffBot, but they have people an at most times and they always have live entertainment. I am sorry your search has been fruitless... but you just need to find the right cantina, at the right time. My own cantina is a perpetual graveyard, but then again I am the only entertainer in my city and I travel alot... so I get what I work for. However once a cantina gets live entertainers and attending patrons on a daily basis... it becomes what it was meant to be... Come witness this for yourself... you may just find what you've been looking for.

A'ri:

I'd stop by from time to time (Political differences aside). However I have a guild the appreciates me and a cantina of my own which has been sorely lacking in attention. However if you spend some time on Annyva in Mos Eisly and post on the entertainer boards in general, I am sure you'll find some interest... and that is all you need to start the path toward Imperial Entertainment...

On Lowca in my PA city, the owner of our cantina was doing nothing to support it, and had actually dropped dance and was going to just remove the cantina to free up lots. I convinced her to transfer it to me.

It's been hard work trying to convince people to come by and check the place out since it was known for being empty, but after a couple of months I managed to get people to at least poke their heads in to check if I was there or to look for me in guild chat or through tells. I even managed to attract 2 other dancers to the place to perform. The place was seeing more action than it had in months.

Then my PA created a buffbot.

I've since left the guild. The cantina is still there and is still mine, but I don't log in on Lowca as often as I used to.

The point is that it is possible to attract people to a player cantina. Location is most important. As well as committment.
