I will classify this as an experiment, but there is a new entertainer up at http://www.swgentertainer.com. The reason it is an experiment is because it is a wiki instead of a regular web site. There is not much there yet, but anyone is welcome to add to it.

Inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends

Still looking for members of the entertainer community to add some content here. Anyone can do it, don't even have to register to edit or create any pages.

I've got a bunch of stuff that I will put up I just haven't figured out whether to go the link method with what I have existing (which would be quicker) or reformat in Wiki. I think the former. I DO think this is a great idea and if it's ok what I'll do is add a button to my site for Variety Magazine so that there are links to everyone else's contributions too.

I also have a list of useful posts made by others that I was in the process of asking permissions on to add to the site so make more sense to get them to repost their own stuff on the Wiki (less work for me!).

I am confident that at the end of the day the entertainment community will have a wonderful resource as that is what we are all after. Just bear with me in terms of contribution at the moment

Quite alright. I figured people would take a little bit of getting used to it. Part of the reason I went wiki is exactly as you said, less work. Everyone can post their own stuff and keep it up to date. They could do that in a forum, of course, but forums are dynamic discussion environments, while putting it on a wiki allows people to put it in a structured environment where it makes sense and can be found by people looking for it, without having tons of stickies or constant bump-wars.

Oh, if you do go the link method, you may want to say if people could reformat it into the wiki, so if someone else comes along and is looking for something to do they would know if you would mind the work being copied.

Tia, that is so neat! I added GM's cantina but have yet to crawl over the rest of the site to see what's there. But, my worry: it's screaming for griefing. Can you revert to a previous save if an ass-hat decides to make it his personal playground? Or ban IPs from editting and such?

Yes and yes. In fact, anyone can revert to a previous page. It's already happened a few times, weather intentionally or not. One was early on before many understood what it was, I caught that one. The other two the only reason I knew about them was because I checked the revision history of the pages. It's actually pretty easy to do. The tab on the bottom with a date is the history. Going to that you can find the old revisions. Just keep going back until the first good one, then it will present a button to re-edit the old revision.

It's only really a problem on a page-by-page basis. It's too much work for someone to bother griefing the entire site. People who like to deface websites don't usually bother with wikis because there isn't any challenge there, and anyone else can recover it. If a wide-spread problem does occur, IPs can be banned. There are a few key pages I have locked against editing, but I try and keep these as few as possible. So far it's just the login and user settings pages, but I'll probably create a page with instructions on recovering wiped pages, and make that uneditable as well. It would be too ironic to create that page and lose it.

Could I request that you add the link to your signature Tiaga?
Thanks

I'd love to, but thanks to everyone who thought they'd be cool and abuse the system to use a graphical sig, I'd have to lose all the formatting of my sig to do so.

I tried bribing Jaessa but it didn't work.

Ah fair enough. My signature is already full of links so I'm not sure I can squeeze another in there. I'll take a look when I am at home again,
