Perhaps a little mean, but fun. When someone starts taming a baby, quickly type "Steady" or "Easy." or "Good... er... boy?" That gets some of the best reactions. I did it to my friend, with whom i was speaking on the phone at the same time, and he totally flipped out. I finally told him i was only messing around, and not actually taming his baby. Heh, anyway, now that i see it in front of me, it's not that funny. You should still try it.

My biggest bit of advice is to keep having fun!
That's what the entertainer professions are supposed to be all about. Don't feel like you have to race to get XP... if you're having a lot of fun with it, you'll find that you get the experience and the next skills before you even notice that time has passed. And if it ever starts to feel like a grind... it's time to go do something else for awhile. Just take a break, and come back and play music when you actually want to... that's how it stays fun over the long haul.
Try out different flourish combinations to see which ones work together... see if you can start forming song structures instead of just random flos all the time. And if you can, hook up with some other musicians that are still having a good time with it... that fun energy is infectious.
I'm sure you can get all sorts of advice on how you can grind music to maximize your XP gains and master in the shortest amount of time.. blah blah blah. I still say that the road taken can be the most rewarding... and what you do later with more songs and instruments just becomes an extension of how you got there. If you loved playing music on the journey, you'll continue to love it as a master (or however far you choose to take it). If you saw leveling music as a grind, you'll likely be a bitter and boredmaster at the end.

In my opinion that is a good way to level, but it's hardly fun. Whoever wrote this clearly has no idea what entertaining is all about. If anyone thinks that a fast grind is the only fun to be had in a cantina, or that the musician profession'sonly value is in how it relates to combat, that person has missed the point.
Entertainer is, in my opinion, the best way to have fun in this game. Combat is tedious to me. There is no depth or tacticsto it. The winner of a PvP duel will always be the player who has got the best buffs, who has mastered a more 'uber' profession, and who has figured out which shot or hit to use ina given situation (and since many of the skills are broken or bugged, that's not hard). The result is always predictable, and that's boring, PvE iseven moretedious - the actions ofAI creatures are completelypredictable.
With entertainer, you're interacting with all kinds of real people on a social basis. That makes for infinite diversity. Also, you have a set of tools and skills that are customizable to match your playstyle. It's not a question of finding one single 'best move' as it is in PvP or PvE. Entertainers constantly use their entire repertoire, and can mix and match flourishes to create a unique performance. CaanonWeathers clearly doesn't understand any of this. His preconceptions about what's 'fun' in a computer gameare leading him to play what is, in effect,a second-rate shooter when he could be playing a first-rate social game.

*chuckles* Okay, okay, I know the AFK macro-ers have got under peoples' skins, but may I reference you to the Entertainer thread entitled "best entertainerpve template" or something similar? Musician combatants are a joke. Take a deep breath, relax, and if that doesn't work, see how well you smack something with a Mandoviel, just for therapeutic purposes.

Or, you could go to the same titled thread in the dancer forum, where instead of making a joke out of it, people have answered the question seriously. You can easily be an entertainer and a PvE'er. I should know, I've been doing it for a very long time and been effective with it. An entertainer who also has a combat profession can be a very valuable combination. Not only can you help your group in combat situations, but you can buff them while you're out there. People are usually thrilled that I have this ability.

No one's debating you can't entertain and fight as well. They're just having a few laughs with trying to do it all at once, is all.
A sense of humor is healthy in the profession, Sggirbs. Very healthy. And it'll make you more tips when you use it, too!
