Entertainer Archive
Thread: Entertainer...is it worth getting?
No, there is absolutely no reason to become an entertainer, musician, or dancer.
It is a RP profession and the skill point investment will prevent you from experiencing the rest of the game.
While there is still BF, it only takes one entertainer per server to heel all the BF on that server.
I say give it a shot and see if you like it.
SWG is cool because if you decide you don't likea profession, just drop it and work towards a new one.
You can be a Tailor, Image Designer, and Master Artisan one day, then that night drop it all and work towards Rifleman and Swordsman.
Give it a shot and see what you think. Entertainers are mostly about having fun and creating a fun atmosphere for others in the game. It's function will soon be made less "needed" and more "wanted" according to the Devs. We'll be able to do some buffs, but the battle fatigue healing is going away sometime.
So, pick up a Slitherhorn, start dancing, start changing people's hairstyles and eye color, and see if you like Entertainer. If you don't, no harm done - keep searching for something you find fun.
I have a lot of fun between crafting or combat going to the cantina taking out my mando and rocking with vets or new players. I've never experienced musical content/creativity like what is in SWG. The skill point investment to be a dancer or musician is not so much that you cannot take part in other professions.
I'm a master shipwright with master entertainer, 2040 music (it has already been brought up with the devs that moving the instruments to the current bf line will hurt a lot of people), I round out this template with something like 3122 merchant.
With this I can fully take part in crafting and selling. I can play all but one song and one instrument. I dropped most of the healing part of musician because the music and entertaining is why I enjoy musician and it was the only way to stay a shipwright/merchant and play the Mandoval. Nice to be able to inspire myself as well. As far as master entertainer goes, I dig being able to make minor adjustments to the way I look, and even be able to do a few decent dances.
I used to be master dancer and made a killing not because I healed bf or mind wounds, but because my dancing was very entertaining.
So that's my take on the entertainment professions.

I agree with the wookiee... Try it and see if you enjoy the ACT of entertaining. If you don't, dump it. If you do, don't worry about your 'role' so much. Just have fun.
