Thread: Feeling kinda usless :(

With the removal of BF . . . I'm kinda down hearted. Yeah people were forced to visit us . . . like they are still forced to find a doc for wound healing but we had a real purpose. Yeah we can give insperation buff and there will be newer buffs (so they say) but those are optional mods are arn't really a necessity in game.
It makes me wonder if the SP spent is worth it. I know there are many entertainer SP threads but I kinda thought about it and . . . well . . . I'm no better than a player shuttle port . . . I'm a convienience to use . . . but you don't need me around. Pay my fee and I'll speed you along your way to more XP.
I really like to dance which is why I haven't dropped it but . . . in the grand scope . . . why am I necessary?

I feel the same way,
I enjoyed buffing people, talking with them, being asked to meet at camps all over. I had a use, I guess I am not a "REAL" entertainer as some say. I enjoyed staying in cantinas playing music.
I have a respec I can use at anytime to become useful again. Which is looking closer and closer. I need to have a way to make a income. this isa Profession after all, not a hobbie.
You know, I posted many many ideas on here an hour ago, and they were all deleted.
Yes, you are right. In a game mechanic of combat, you are 100% useless.
In fact, let me "carebear" my post that was deleted.
Props = suggestion by 3 people at fanfest
What else was?
New sounds for instruments
Dance leaders for organzied dancing
microphones and working speakers
ID ability to make a rebel look imp for a time for spywork
Inclusion in the combat system.
Actually props have been making the "top things we want" list on the Dancers forum for as long as I can remember. They certainly aren't the only things that have been listed but they have been a constant one. While I like to create a performance that looks good and will probably use some props they aren't anything to base a profession around. I also like my armor to be colorful but it isn't why I mastered rifles.
I can only say that supposedly those of us who do want to have a support/assist role will be happy with the future of the professions. In the meantime you just have to try to hang in there and find a way to make the profession work for you. We're losing BF but we'll still have the 10% inspiration buff. Try to keep your patrons focusing on that starting now and with a bit of luck the "downtime" that comes with the removal of BF won't be as destructive as we imagine. Spend some time traveling and mentoring new entertainers, get your name known by new players be they entertainers or otherwise. On my server a lot of new players use the Planet Chat to ask questions and look for help. I monitor that (in a separate chat window) and try to answer as many questions as I can and help out as much as possible. It's my small effort to make entertainers a known population of the server. Otherwise I think we risk sinking into the background and we'll have a tough fight ahead.
