hey all, i have been thinking. With how the Devs are nerfing entertainers in the CU, why don't they at least do what they did with the poltical tree, make Entertainer, Dancer and Musician trees ZERO SP to learn. Then those who are those can keep it and put the Skill points made available into whatever combat classes they choose, as this seems to be what the devs want, all fighters. This way the devs can focus on combat and IMO, would lessen the slap in the face, they gave to Entertainers.

Its Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I think the hoped-for goal here is to ultimately get additional content for entertainers to match teh skill point cost, and not lower the skill point cost to match existing content. Besides, if it costs nothing, everyone will do it, and be able to be self-sufficient.

Whose goal is that though, Jess? If we can't ever get the Devs on board with giving us enough gameplay to justify the skill point cost in comparison to the gameplay earned by investing the same skill points in Crafting or Combat, we'll just continue to be frustrated and feel limited.

So far, the Devs have strongly stood by the "Social gameplay = Chatting in the Cantina." I just don't think that's ever going to make sense to more than a handful of people.

Now, if they turned around and gave us:

  • killer gameplay options inside of the Cantinas (mini-games, competitive income options equal to those you get with crafting/combat, engaging team missions working towards a common goal, so on)

and/or

  • engaging play outside of the Cantina (event tools, a new concept of a "crafter support" role that would mirror the gameplay of combat support roles turned non-combat and carried out in the Crafters' shops and workrooms instead of the battlefield, Spy/Informant role, etc)

... then I think keeping our current level of SP buy in would be fine. I can't say that I believe that's in the works though. I don't even know that there are any Devs that are open to it. Something's got to give. *shrug* No reason to keep holding out for something if they will never give it to us because they are dead set on Social prof design meaning no game-like content, just chat and fancy emotes meant to be carried out in a few limited locations in the game world.

I'm not dead set against that concept of Ents if that's what we are meant to be, but it doesn't make any sense at all that we have to pay more for this option than people do for access to the meatier Crafter and Combat options that do offer real gameplay and solid rewards.

I personally am tired of the Old West style stand off over these points and how limited we are meant to be in the game world as an Entertainer. I just want to play the darned game at this point and still be allowed to keep my dances and make-up bag.
