Thread: Here's how you handle the Inspiration Buff situation

This is a great idea. Making the process 'transparent' might be problematic, though, as many entertainers have alluded.

Here's how you solve the problem. Quick, easy, and simple.

When you start to play or dance, a menu pops up. This menu asks you whether you want to give the buffs away for free, or if a person must pay a tip toreceive buffs. It also lets you set a tip amount if you so desire.

If you answeredNo to theTip Required question, then the process is transparent, like the devs described. Anyone can just listen and get the buffs. No problem.

If you answered Yes to the Tip Required question, thenwhoever walks up to you anddoes /listen or /watch will get a prompt for the tip.Kinda like walking into a building that has an Access Fee. The person clicks Yes, and bang! They start getting their buffs. If they click No, they can still hear the music in the game, but they receive no benefits.

NOW HERE IS THE BEAUTY PART:

I'm reasonably sure that the reason people don't tip entertainers these days is because of the group aspect. Who do you tip in the group? Do you tip everybody? How annoying would that be?

So, if you're in a group and someone pays the tip, it is split between the whole band! Kills the problem right there. It doesn't matter who you tip or when. The tip is automatically split between the whole band.

Simple, eh? No need for a huge complicated menu like the Image Designers have. Just enough to control the cash flow.

Not a bad idea. Although it might be better as a / command to toggle rather than a pop up. But I think the customer would probably get annoyed with it if they just come in to heal or to enjoy the music/dance and get that tip popup each time.

And if it's for a buff, I don't think the group should get a part of a buff tip. After all you're listening/watching one or two specific people to get the buff. But then a general /grouptip command for tipping the group as been something that's been wanted for a long time. As long as it doesn't get passed to the AFK'ers in the group.

Cancelled 7/27/05 - I joined to play Star Wars, not Jedi-BH Wars. You've ignored/gutted/abused just about every other profession in the game, while spending most of your time working on Jedi and BH as they related to Jedi. You've basically killed the game for anyone who doesn't want the glowstick. Congratulations.

It is my understanding that with this new system, applying the buffs can be a group effort, regardless of who's watching who. (It had better be, otherwise there'll never be a real reason for any entertainers to group ever again.)

Well there's always the aesthetic benefits to grouping...

you say:

Well I am whole very much against that and let me sum up why with three letters: AFK. I am a dedicated high-level musician. I love the cantina (most of the time). I always invite any and ents who want to join. This gets us *all* more xp, and xp is treasured (especially healing xp...). I don't have any problem with afk ents (unless they're leader... then it's just rude). Any afk ents in my group will continue getting xp, which is great. And I will continue to get xp cuz they are in my group.

However... I am still atk. I am still interacting with the customers. I am still the one getting people to watch US instead of that 100% afk group on the other side of the cantina. I am the one doing all of the work. Honestly... I work the cantinas for two reasons. The social connections and the money. Honestly... I don't want to earn a 20k credit tip and then split it with 5 afk novice entertainers. Honestly... don't you think, as a tipper, that you'd tip a lot LESS if you knew the AFK'ers would get an equal share? I know people who have a habit of banktipping an afk 5 credits. In concept, rude, but the point is people don't like tipping AFKers.

I do, however, like your idea, and here's the simple resolution. /tipgroup. If you have me targetted, you could simply /tipgroup. That way you could /tipgroup 1000 to have 1000 credits split between me and my afk'ers *AND* you could /tip 10000 to me because you appreciate the fact that I'm not afk. Admit it... non-afk ents add a lot to the flavor of the game (well you know, those of us who interact... and are funny... and witty... etc...).

You get the point. Anywayz... just wanted to add that to your honestly good idea.

I love the idea of having popups like this. The devs'll never go for it, but suggest it anyway. It's a great idea.
