Thread: Feature to add: Autosplit of tips

We've got a great band and a good group of regular patrons at the Coronet City Cantina on Corellia on Naritus server, but a common thing we entertainers talk about is how to share tips. We perform as a group, but logistically it's difficult to have a "tip jar" for the band. Would it be difficult to extend the group control language to encompass an autosplit for tips?

Yes, we know the amount per performer would in many cases be tiny or even non-existent (in the case of large bands and small tips), but we're willing to live with that. Whether the small tip gets distributed randomly or from the top of the group list down, it won't affect us that much; it's the sharing of the bigger tips we'll notice.

Sorry if this's been suggested a thousand times already, but I've not run across the idea on the boards before.

Thanks.

Keep suggesting it I say . And work like Everquest did /autosplit in a group. If there was enough of the copper to be split evenly between the entire group it got split, if not only the looter got that copper. So in this case only the tipper would get that 10cred tip when you have 11+ people in the group. But if you get that 100cred tip 10 people get 9 creds and the person who got it would get 10creds. Etcetera. Small examples yes, but you should get the jist of it from that .

I full heartedly second this notion as I dislike taking time out of flourhing or running macro'd songs I've got for the band, to take the time to /tip that 500 cred tip I got to 8 people.

I think a /bandtip would be great for tiping the entire band and if you wanted to give a little extra to one member then the /tip name of person and amount is still working I think that woould be great

This was discussed and rejected in beta. In a group, there is always a few afk dancers/musicians. I am sorry, but I don't want to share my tips with them. I understand why one must go afk for 10, even 30 minutes...but when some of us are 'working the crowd' for tips, its simply not fair that someone with a long macro gets a share of our tips.

Another problem lately, some dancing groups are asking combat folks to join because they believe that the larger groups give them more xp. This really only happens if the person is in the cantina actually dancing or playing.Larger groups WATCHING you also give you more xp. They do not have to actually be in your group. Also, at some distance from the cantina, you will no longer get the benefit of the group xp. I tested this last night and it wasn't far either.

I don't want to share my tips with combat folks that do not belong in an entertainer group.

Such tactics, along with group tipping will create competition among the entertainers. Sadly, it will be the newbies who will lose out and they are the ones who need the large groups and xp the most. Those of us at higher levels will heal faster and can easily form our own groups in vacant hotels or private cantinas, drawing players away from the venues where newbies will play.

One way a group tipping might work is if the dancer/musician has the ability turn off group tipping or even better, turn it on. That way, you can choose to share your tips and get a share of other's tips. If there are a large number of afk folks or combat folks, one would have the option of not sharing tips without leaving the group.

Sorry I dont want to split my tips.

I think I work far harder than most people in our cantina and what I get I earned.

I wouldnt want anyone to have to split their tips with me either.

Of course, if there was the additional option for players to choose from that would be okay.

I think what is being requested is not manditory tip splitting but an option to turn on auto split just like group auto looting is optional (/group menu , for those of you who didnt know) If you have AFK'ers in your group you should get onto your group leader to kick them out till they return so you dont have to split your tip with them. Just remember, Not every idea is all or nothing, A group tipping can have its benifits as well as drawbacks, and if the feature is toggleable then you can always turn it off if you dont like it.

I think it would be a better idea if the band leader could turn this option on and off. Because of the AFK problem, and the tip splitting problem (some of us don't want to split cause the patron wanted all the money to go to us anyway in some cases), the band should decide verbally if they want this option on and then the leader can toggle it on /bandtip on or whatever.

A good idea but not applicable in all instances as I guess they said in beta. Nice feature to add later tho.

I can live without it, but I would use it occasionally if it was in-game. In a large cantina group it would be *off* almost all the time, because everyone just uses macros in there and I am frequently one of the only ones talking outside of /gc.

On a few instances though a friend or two and I have gone around to the med centers and other highly-populated places people are hanging out to play some higher level music that we don't get a chance to play very often when less-skilled musicians are around. In a case like that I would love to split tips evenly - although it's just as easy with only 2 or 3 people to split them manually by tipping your bandmates.

/shrug Might be too much work for the practicality of it.

Well, it looks as if too many people have been burned by macroers, so, since I don't play this game for tips and don't really care whether I get them, I'll just drop the idea.
