Get over things.

Stop whining that people arent tipping, that some guys only tip 10 credits, that the business isnt moral enough, that dancers are performing in their undies.

Good God.

Have fun with the game. If you dont like the way things are with the customers or the other entertainers open your own place, but please stop spamming the boards with "I need more tips" "Make customers tip or not get healed" "Theres not enough morality in the business".

We are entertainers. Lets entertain, however we choose. Those of you who whine so much its a wonder you dont get tips.

(Disclaimer: Realize most of you arent like that thank you )

While I don't care much for the tone of the opening message in this thread, I do agree that entertainers have to get over the idea that you can make a living on tips. Even when people tip well, they generall tip only one person in the band and the rest get nothing. For the most part, though, people simply won't tip at all or will tip small enough amounts that you'll lead a hand-to-mouth existence if you rely on tips as your sole source of income.

Money is easy to acquire in this game. If you want to entertain for a living, then you'll need to run missions for money just like everyone else. If you want to be a "pure" entertainer, then you'll need to relocate to a town with a theater. The theater acts as an entertainer guild hall and you should be able to find nobles in there who will give you dance and music gigs as missions. You just go to the place they tell you (the waypoint will be at the entrance. You need to go INSIDE the building to do the mission.) and dance/play for 10-20 minutes and you'll be paid automatically. These gigs pay anywhere from 400-650 credits. Just do a couple in the local cantina or hotel and you're set.

I completely agree . especially never complain in front of the customers - keep it in groups chat if you want talk amongst entertainers- but never out in the open. If you want to give a friendly reminder use "Please remeber that your /tip (s) and contributions help contribute to the arts and further the careers of Dnacers and Musicians"

I also completely disagree that you can't live on tips a group of us all share the burden of training ( I don't think you would survive the training and earn the money to pay for it on tips alone) BUt I do pull down about 4-8000 in credits in tips a day. It's all about how you treat the people and the regulars that you have.

I love my customers and treat them how I would like to be treated. I also treat the non tippers and the low tippers the same way. If you wanted to be rich pick another profession. I usually have only 1-2000 credits on me due to the fact of chipping in on training. Sponsoring newbies in novice entertainer due to the fact that they chose another profession so that's a 100 credits here or there. I even tipped a wookie 20 credits last night because he was ballerina dancing around the cantina, and that entertained ME. So if you want to be rich either become an UBER ENTERTAINER who takes advantage of everyone else and never gives back, or run the missions to get up the cash.

You can't cut record deals in game so being an entertainer will never make you rich. If you want credits choose another profession if you can't be entertaining.

I agree to quit talking about tips unless someone asks about it. We should agree among oursleves what is fair and when a patron asks we know what to tell them without undercutting another band.

One small whine:
If every person that came in tipped 10 creds, I'd be a very happy person, and I don't think that a cover charge is the answer either.

Heeeeey...wait a minute. That would be AWESOME. Put them in a factory to press them & sell 'em all over the Galaxy...

There is a group of players on Wanderhome on Tatooine who will be forming a PA of sorts of entertainers skilled in all forms of design and entertainment. There's going to be a cover charge and a mandatory tip to get in the door. It's designed to make money for the entertainers, and heal the customer within 10 seconds of walking in the door thanks to the concentrated band presence.

I for one as a dancer won't be working for a profiteering chicken ranch. I perform to get to know the community within the game, not to have 9 million credits in the bank (as the proprieter of this idea said she did in beta).

I agree that some entertainers whine.

On one server this morning, I saw two noob musicians whose idea of entertainment was to stand in one place and play their instruments, occassionally saying "TIPS PLZ". They then berated a Wookiee that wouldn't tip them for the shabby performance they gave.

This does not describe most entertainers though. There are a lot of good ones worth every credit and then some they get in tips.

I do disagree that you cannot make a living off of tips. The entertainer I have played has only run one 50 credit mission, and makes a couple thousand credits each day in tips. No problem at all. Its all about location, performance, and crowd interaction.
