This is a spur of thought thread... wouldn't it be cool if:

They let you use your mp3 for advanced music.... Imagine going to the cantina and jamming to some guy with a space aged obo playing "godsmack" or something.

It won't happen, and it shouldn't, but just a stray though that gave me a chuckle

Well, I suppose it would be ok if you only heard it.

Legal problems would probably arise if others could hear it.

...and it would probably require the media file to be on their computer as well.

Besides, I can see some disturbing things happening with this.

Neat idea, though.

I think a perfect compromise would be to allow anyone with the Composer title to write simple songs using an external Midi editor, and if they're the band leader they could lead the band in playing it. Midi files are super-small, so it'd be easy to allow other players to hear it. Have to worry about people putting a virus in them somehow though, so maybe it'd be an in-game midi editor. I think creating new music is the only way to keep the musician profession interesting for the life of the game.
